Much better than before
As upgraded, the course managed well-
green and fairway grass was excellent.
Great 1st outing on the East course
Had a great time with friends. For the most part play was consistently at a good pace; not much waiting around. Friendly staff and amazingly well-maintained course.
Benches would be good for the older golfers to have somewhere to sit when waiting to tee off, especially on hotter days.
PVGC EAST Course July 02
Had an 0850 Tee time, but the 0830 duo was late, so the starter moved us up to 0830. (YEA!!!!) It was overcast but warm . The course was in great shape. Heavy rains overnight caused them to make 6 thru 14 as Cart path only. (minor inconvenience) Pace of play was great. group ahead was rarely an issue and we were not pushed by the group behind. 10 minute start times were working fine.
I only recently returned to Preakness Valley, previous time there was when it was still Passaic County Golf. The improvements in the pace of play and the physical environment are dramatic. I rejoined about three weeks ago, and have already played the West course 2 times and the east 4.
Finished just before noon for a comfortable 3h30min round.
I have played all over NJ, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, and this course is competitive with many much more expensive courses
3rd day of heat wave
Course is in the best shape I have ever seen it-3rd day of heat wave, was wide open at 8AM, took a buggy played 2 balls, start to finish 2:15 for 18....can not beat that!! Hope it stays hot!
Good Local Track, Slightly Overpriced
Two full courses here. East is slightly more challenging. Holes are pretty wide open without too many penalty areas. Moderate elevation. Some challenging doglegs on certain holes. Course conditions are usually very nice. Tee boxes are well kept, greens are healthy and not pockmarked. Fairways and rough are also healthy and repaired frequently it seems. Staff is friendly. $65 with cart is a little steep for the experience in my opinion, but it won't stop me from coming back. It's a fun leisurely round and local to many people in the area.
Very uncoordinated staff
Booked round on golfnow to play the east course, arrived 20 mins early checked in proshop no problem they send me over to the east course only to have the starter say there is an outing going on and theres no way we can play that course. If an outing was booked how are they still accepting teetimes online? When the outing wrapped up we got stuck behine a 5some that all hit 2 balls each off the tee box. What course allows 5somes? No rangers in sight to have them speed up eaither. Sorry wont be back again to play a 5+ hr round on a Monday afternoon
Nice course and challenging layout
The course is beautifully maintained and the greens are very nice. The only issue is the fairways are grown on sand so they tended to be very tough and the greens were also very hard and fast so a bit difficult to play but overall a great course.
Woman Beginner Golfer
Nervous to play since I started only a month ago. I was worried about being paired with experienced players and messing up the game for them.
The gentlemen we were paired with were patient and kind. No judgements of any kind. We all laughed and had a good time.
A nice added feature is the club house with a beautiful outside patio where you can drink and eat.
Played East course and it was stunning. We will be back next week to play again.
