Condescending to Female Golfers
Course was overbooked. We were rushed to the first tee to wait in line. Finished the first hole and waited behind 2 other 4somes on the next tee box and a 3rd that was on the green. The starter told the women in our group that the men could explain to them how to use the grass seed to fill in divots. Assuming they were not golfers and couldn’t figure out how to tilt the bottle and pour it. It was slow going all day because they were overbooked. They rushed us along telling the men in our group to make sure the women in our group kept pace. We were told this while waiting for the group ahead to clear the green so we could tee off on a par 3 hole. We were approached several times after and reminded to keep pace even though they could see we were waiting on the group ahead. Although the course was in good shape and a nice layout, I would not return due to the way we were treated by the staff.
Course was nice. Staff rushed us to the first tee to wait in line. Teed off about 20 minutes late. Had to wait for 2-3 groups on the tees at the second hole. 1st hole is a short par 5 followed up by a short par 4 with driveable green. Had to wait for group ahead to clear the green to tee off. Course was overbooked. Staff was rude to the women in our group. The starter told the women that the men could explain to them how to use the bottles on the carts to fill in divots. Marshalls told the men to make sure the women kept pace even though we were waiting at every tee box due to the course being overbooked. Although the course was in good shape, I would not return due to the way we were treated.
Nice Course/Rough Height
Nice course. Very open layout. The narrow fairways make up for the relatively short length of this course. My one criticism is the rough was mowed way too high. If you miss the narrow fairways it was extremely difficult to find your ball unless you were on top of it. My wife and I lost 8 balls but found 10 in rough just off the fairway which tells you that other golfers had the same difficulty finding their balls too. It’s frustrating being just off the fairway and losing a ball. The greens and fairway were in excellent shape. The Starter was very friendly. I’m not sure I would play here again if the rough was the same height. I don’t feel a public course should be set up that tough.
Picked the course because it was on my way to my destination. A very pleasant surprise. The course was in good to great condition. Greens were faster than expected. I will come back in the near future
Solid Course
Above average course. I found it to be a little too short and easy but it was in great shape. Greens were very nice. Pace of play was ok. Overall a good value and worth playing.
Course is set up well for seniors.
I’m 81 but this course is enjoyable for the average senior. It,s in good shape, has some tough holes, easy to navigate & I will return.
No aeration Notice
Have been playing Westwood since 1967 and have always found it to be in really good shape. However, this time even though I purchased my tee time on Golf Now,there was no aeration notice. Putting was a task at best. The fairways were cut rather high which really cost the shorter hitters and seniors like myself and the rough was much higher and thicker than usual. I had played there a couple of weeks before and the conditions were excellent.
Overall a decent golf course with modestly priced greens fees. Somewhat short, especially from thr senior tees but the greens are always in good condition. Been pleying here from Phila for several years.
Early season hot deal
I’m glad I was able to get this course as a hot deal. The greens had been aerated recently and several of the tee boxes needed some work but I enjoyed the layout and the pace was great for a Monday afternoon.
This course has a really nice layout
This course has a wide open front nine and no way to lose your ball in the fronts but in the back it tightens up and you have to be more precise with your shots and the putting gets harder.
Great Day
This course wasn’t too difficult which made it very fun to play. This my first time scoring in the 80’s. Overall - a great course to play.
The course was great and the staff was great. Would have been nice to know that the greens had been aerated prior to booking
front 9 was being aerated so we had to play back 9 twice...a little steep at $25 compared to other courses but not too bad...
Nice Course, Interesting Character to Holes
I liked the course and the conditions were pretty good for early Spring. Par 5s are short and there are a couple of short Par 4s but not drivable. Your tee shots need to be precise on these short Par 4s. Nice bar, restaurant and patio for after your round of golf. Staff was friendly and helpful. I'll definitely return.
A short gem
The course is a bit short, but the difficult greens make up for the lack of distance. New ownership took over last season and things are really heading in the right direction ! Will play here often this season - very enjoyable !!
Good for a spring warm up round.
Leave your driver at home. No really, the longest club you need a 3 wood and that may even be a stretch. This course was perfect for what I was looking for, a quick round, and just to get out there after taking the winter off. greens were in decent shape and rolled surprisingly smooth for this early in the season. Some of the fairways and rough could use some work. If you're just looking to get out there for a quick warm up round this is the perfect spot, it definitely wont WOW you but worth the $25.
