About
Nestled in the Lower Hudson Valley, Putnam County Golf Course enjoys a scenic location amid rolling hills yet it’s not too far from the city. Formerly known as Putnam National, the club was originally opened as a private club in 1959, it opened to the public when it was bought by the county in 2004 but it continues to offer the quality and amenities of a private country club. The golf course has front and back nines that are completely different from one another so be prepared to use all the clubs in your bag. Water hazards only come into play on two holes but don’t let that fool you, this course is formidable even for avid golfers. Putnam County Golf Course's final four holes are an especially challenging stretch that will test you with everything from uphill lies to a slew of strategically placed bunkers.

course in great shape with nice mix of par 4s. greens very tough with alot of slope.
Great Visit
Course was in great shape and pace of play was Ok, not great but not as slow as i have seen. I was paired up with 3 fantastic guys from Mahopac, John, Tim, and Joe. I look forward to playing there again.

Course was immaculate wish I was a better player!
A good average muni
I mean good average because although the layout is fairly pedestrian the conditions were good enough. The putting surfaces were the defense on an otherwise defenseless course. Lots of relatively forgettable holes. Good place for locals looking to get a casual round in but it’s not going to be much of an interest for advanced golfers. I wouldn’t travel too far out of your way to get to it but if you want a practice round it’s a fairly priced option.
A bit Wet Cart Path Only with some hills got us tired.
Great Sunday Of Golf!
Got a great deal for a round of golf at Putnam County Golf Course today! Course was in good shape (a little soggy in places but we did have rain recently) and weather was Unbelievable! Great Course and Great Day!
