About
Nestled in the Lower Hudson Valley, Putnam County Golf Course enjoys a scenic location amid rolling hills yet it’s not too far from the city. Formerly known as Putnam National, the club was originally opened as a private club in 1959, it opened to the public when it was bought by the county in 2004 but it continues to offer the quality and amenities of a private country club. The golf course has front and back nines that are completely different from one another so be prepared to use all the clubs in your bag. Water hazards only come into play on two holes but don’t let that fool you, this course is formidable even for avid golfers. Putnam County Golf Course's final four holes are an especially challenging stretch that will test you with everything from uphill lies to a slew of strategically placed bunkers.

An absolutely horrible experience
I played today and paid $72 as a non resident. I was robbed! Fairways as long as the rough! No sand in any bunker. Greens bumpy as aall get out.Please do not use rain a week ago as an excuse! I work at a nearby public course and we have mowed fairways 3 times in 5 days. This place was a joke!
Okay
Someone was getting a lesson on the range hitting driver into 8 and 9 fairway. Almost got hit on both holes without him or the club pro yelling FORE. Other than that the golf course was as expected.
For every golfer
Course simple layout. I was told that I would need every clubin my bag. Nope. Not alot of layups, so it's pretty easy to play.
This course has interesting layout
Played third time this year & enjoyed every round
Well kept green condition
Looking forward to playing next round
Pleasant
Very nice course. Only problem that we experience a few golf balls coming from other fairways into your fairway. We had a couple close calls.
