Relaxed atmosphere
Spectacular views of the Long Island Sound from number of holes
Too much for an aerated course!
The course looks beautiful but the greens were terrible, freshly aerated ! Putting was impossible at this time! The course should of never of charge such a high price! Would recommend this cost to a friend but not during the month of September !
peter
Course beautiful, staff very nice. Green need to maintain, too slow.
SLOWEST Greens on Long Island.
Thought the greens were bad last year but conditions have deteriorated. The greens are even slower. They run at about a five. Similar to putting on a Bethpage fairway. Not kidding...Also now the place is overrun with geese.
I would say it is time for a new Greenskeeper, but that time has long since passed. Play elsewhere or call Huntington Parks and Recreation to complain. This was a great facility in years past.
Crab Meadow
Course was in great shape and very scenic. Long Island sound Water views are nice. Greens were slow and weather was spectacular. Course location is great and very quiet. I would highly recommend a great place to play.
A decent course for the money
I played in late August 2014. Greens were slower then molasses in January. You really had to hit the puts to make it to the hole. The one good thing was there were all straight puts, no breaks.
Not a fan of the fairway grass but it is a public course.
Play of speed was 5 hours, but then again it was a nice Saturday so that didn't help. I've played it during the week and it was quicker.
I do like the layout, makes you think about what club to pull out of the bag on some shots like the ones to the down hill greens.
I had recommended the course for our outing and anyone who hadn't played it before all liked it.
Great layout
Course was in good shape - the greens were a bit slow. The layout is greeat with no 2 holes looking the same. The only negative was the round took 5 hours. We did see rangers out on the course but I think they just let too many people out too close together. All in all a very good round
A Well Maintained Course with Scenic Views
Crab Meadow is nestled in the hills of Northport and offers beautiful scenic views of Long Island Sound. It has spacious fairways which provide the average golfer ample room to accurately place their tee shots. The course and facilities are well maintained, which is difficult to achieve considering the tremendous volume of play that this course has always incurred. Township of Huntington residents have always enjoyed discounted greens fees, but non residents can get the same discounted prices by purchasing tee times on Golf Now.com. It is well worth the purchase to play a course which has plenty of character, without the long yardage holes that make reaching a green in regulation extremely difficult. The Blue, White and Silver tees will offer interesting challenges for a variety of skill levels.
Pleasant settings
Nice coarse. Conditions were very good. There is an over abundance of geese and everything that goes along with them.
Pace on a Friday afternoon was a little slow, but was still able to just get in 18. Over all I really like playing there.
Draw back of course
The only draw back to this course is geese They leave dropping everywhere
Slow greens/no times
Just as the title says, the greens are the slowest I've seen in quite some time, especially considering the rest of the course is in decent shape. In addition to slow greens is the slow play, 4 1/2 is like lightning around this place, I live in Northport and often travel the BETHPAGE of all places for a faster round, this should sound laughable to most of you, but is true. Also if you wish to play here before the afternoon on the weekend you better call or sing in at the very first second those times become available because otherwise, no chance. And don't try to walk up as a single either, there are literally no openings. Save yourself the trouble, it's easier and faster to play elsewhere.
Nice course but 6 hours for 18 holes!!!!!
Beautiful course, well maintained but very slow play in the weekends!!! If you go, either arm yourself with a lot of patience or make sure to go on an ordinary tuesday!!!
Roll the Greens
Though the course was in nice shape for muni, the greens were too lush and slow. Elevation changes and nice views of the Long Island Sound are strong points. Pace was awful for a weekday, nearly 5 hours, including an hour to get through holes 7-9, which left lots of time to enjoy the scenery.
Nice course
Pace of play was really good. The course was well kept. Good value with Golfnow
cart concessions
I wish they would have had an employee on a concessions cart driving around the course. we ran out of water, and probably would have bought 6 more bottles of water, lost income & dehydrated Golfers, in addition the two water jugs on the course Were empty
it's ok
The greens were very well kept. What I didn't like was the fact that you couldn't drive on many of the fairways. You had to drive along the side of the fairway then go hit your ball then walk back to the cart. Almost made getting a cart useless. However I still had a good time and unless I'm paying UNDER
$40 for the round, I wouldn't go back.
A better municipal course
This is the Town of Huntington municipal course, set beautifully overlooking Long Island Sound with many holes having water views. Previous reviewers have complained about the greens but they were well-maintained for our round. The starter was friendly and our round at 11:15 on a Friday morning was fast. We were teamed up with another pair unfortunately after we had already teed off and were on the way to our balls.
greens
greens need to be rolled and cut Very Very Very slow!!!! like putting in the faiway
Slow play
Slow play for a Thursday. Nice weather, nice course. Over 5 hours to play 18. Front 9 was 3 hours long
Crab meadow
Only complaint was I was a single and they made me ride with another single. I would have preferred my own cart as we had very different playing abilities and were strangers to each other. Otherwise good course.
