Crab Meadow Golf Course

Crab Meadow is a great golf value. If you are a resident, you can play 18 - while walking on a weekend for $36. It has some very good holes with amazing views of the Long Island Sound. The front 9 plays easier than the back. The greens could be a little faster. Of the Par 5's - # 14 is the hardest. My favorite Par 3 is #16. My favorite Par 4 is #15.

This gem is tucked in northern Long Island. We went on a weekday and it was not crowded at all. The course is kept well with water views from many holes. The grass is well groomed, and the price is a great value, especially for residents. I would definitely come back again.

My only complaint are the greens, very slow, a lot of ball marks and I think it should be cut more often.

Too bad the greens are so slow. It is a really nice track... If you are a high handicaper, it may mean nothing to you, but for a player these greens are by far the slowest in the area. I'd add two stars if they would lower the blade.
They get slower in the summer cause they don't want to have to break a sweat by going out to water them. So sad. Rather play Bethpage. The Greenskeeper there knows how to keep greens true and fast.

I live in Huntington and have access to the town Golf card which offers a discounted Sr. rate that is reasonable. The card costs $30 for 1 yr. Golf Now was $5.00 less and there is no card to purchase-its a no brainer. Greens were perfect but were in need of a cutting which slowed the speed considerably and fairways were well covered- rough was spotty or bare in some areas but for a public course its at the top of its game. And as always the views were spectacular.

Course was in excellent condition except for the greens. They were cut so high that there were NO breaks on the green. They were cut like most fairways at a more upscale or private course

First time playing Crab Meadow and I would absolutely come back. Course is fairly short and plays to the strengths of those who can hit the ball long and straight off the tee I don't think I had much more than a PW into any of the par 4s and every par 5 was reachable in tow if you put the ball in fairway. Course was in good shape, loved the thick rough that really punished you every time you missed left or right. Only complaint about the course that I had was the greens. They were a bit slow and the holes were a few days old evident by the tons of spike marks around the cup and the deteriorating condition of the cup itself. Staff was friendly, practice facilities got the job done, and the food at the halfway house was outstanding. Well worth the $36.

I have lived near Crab Meadow for 7 years and never got a chance to play it. What a pleasant surprise. I really liked this course.

Crab Meadow was great. Views of Connecticut are stunning on a handful of holes. Round moved along nicely on Father's Day. Greens were on the slow side. Course was in very good shape otherwise, though rain had saturated some fairways. Staff was laid back. Would describe Crab Meadow as challenging but very playable for the average golfer. Heard you will need bug spray but we did not notice too many of them. Got a great deal from GolfNow and enjoyed a very memorable round of golf with the family.

Nice course. Buggy at night. Very nice scenery. Very crowded during the day.

First time playing there. The course was really interesting especially the back nine. Fairways were in good condition but the rough needs cutting. We spent too much time looking for balls. The scenery is beautiful . My opinion is that if the greens were faster and the sand traps had actual sand ( mostly mud) this course would easily get another star. Get a ranger on the course. 5 1/2 round ! All in all we had a very pleasant day.

Beautiful course. Really challenging holes but also offers "easier" ones. Highly recommend.

Beautiful place but if you are a serious golfer don't play here right now. Greens are terrible, bumpy and dog slow.

This is a wonderful town course. It is a great layout for all levels and offers some very scenic views. Unfortunately it is known for having very poor conditioning on the greens. We played recently and the greens were like bad fairways. Have never played on such slow and bumpy greens. They need immediate maintenance. I hope the town is able to keep this great track in playable condition. The golf now pricing makes it a good deal at this time. Great front desk people and starters. CUT THE GREENS... PLEASE!!

crab Meadow course is very picturesque (if you block out the four Northport red & white generator stacks that loom nearby). Course was pleasant, somewhat challenging but rewarding. My only criticism of the course was that the greens were very bumpy -- no putt ran smoothly - pretty frustrating. Recent rains restricted cart access on some holes. Great views of LI Sound from some of the elevated holes.

The only problem that I had with this place is that despite the wonderful weather and the great conditions that this course is in, the management apparently did not (or have not) realized that by the month of May, it might be time to cut the greens down to regulation length. The greens are still in their winter mode, meaning that it putts like a shag carpet. I'm not sure when the grass will be cut, but be advised that as of this review, it hasn't been done yet. Beautiful views, I personally love playing near the shore (as this course gives wonderful views of the shore), and it's moderately challenging. Greens are on the small side, but that adds to the challenge. Worth the visit.

Booked through GolfNow. Staff was very friendly. Course layout was challenging but not overwhelming. Greens were small and SLOW! Some very nice views. Score will improve 2nd time out due to familiarity. Some blind shots. Overall a good day out. Nice course. Will absolutely play again.
