Great course
Slow play ! To much time waiting to tee off. Was hard to get a rhythm going .
Fix it up...quick!
I've only played this course a few times, but I love the layout and location. It's a fairly easy course, especially after a few months of not playing...a nice way to get back in the swing. Unfortunately, the course is in dreadful shape. I know we have had a tough winter, but the goose droppings, non-existing fairway grass and torn up greens made for a very frustrating round. I do not see myself playing here again soon.
Greens very slow and hairy. However it is December so understandable. Would like to play in summer. Nice views.
Good course but tough greens because it is December. Good starter and a good price at $30
Challenging with some lovely water views.
Interesting and challenging. Often times, the lie is not flat so some thinking is involved to get a good shot.
Many beautiful views throughout.
Average course, nothing special
The course was in a nice setting, along the north shore, however the course itself wasn't anything particularly special. It was fairly well maintained, however the greens were on the slow side,'and there's quite a lot of goose droppings everywhere. For the discounted price payed on golf now, it was worth it, but I would not pay their full asking price, not worth it.
This course has fantastic ocean view of gulf.
This golf course has fantastic ocean view of meadow and nice shape. One little thing is not satisfy that the green is so small and too slow.
Great Course.
Well maintained good course. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Great Public Course
This course is in fine shape for a Public Course. The maintenance crew should be commended.
Great public course!
The course has improved a lot since I last played it 10 years ago. The fairways are mainted well and the greens were a bit slow. Overall a good experience.
CRAB GHETTO
If only they would cut the Greens lower for more speed and roll for smoother putts. Over all course in nice sharp for a town course for general public play.
Great course to play
Would reco this course to anyone, this was the first time playing here , will be back for sure
These are not Putting Greens
These are the slowest greens I have played in years. This is not golf. What a waste of a good day.
Horrible greens, extremely slow play
I wound up leaving after 15 holes, I could no longer stand the wait. There are rangers driving around but they do not actually say anything to the slower groups holding everyone up. Greens were slow and a little beat up. The staff was super friendly but the cost for the value is not worth it - I will not be returning.
Not good, not bad
The golf course is really a tale of two 9s. The front nine seemed short, with some narrow fairways and holes without the beautiful views. The back nine has character, charm, and several views of the LI sound (albeit distant).
The condition of the course is probably 5/10. The biggest disappointment is the "fairway." The fairway is actually rough that is just not super deep. There were several bald spots on the course, but it was the last day of August of a fairly dry summer.
The staff was very nice and welcoming.
The other drawback is this course sees a lot of play from beginners. This can make for a long round.
This course has beautiful views of the LI Sound and Connecticut.
The course has a beautiful layout and is just challenging enough from the back tees. The biggest challenge on the course is there small greens. If you miss the greens on your second shot, good luck. Thick rough surrounding the greens makes it very difficult to chip it close to the cup.
Nice Course, very slow greens
Nice course, it has been a few years since the last time I played it. Greens were very slow. A couple of holes had a geese problem, probably about 100 of them on one of the holes, geese droppings and feathers everywhere made it difficult to find a ball in the middle of the fairway on that one hole. Course moved well for a New York public course in the middle of the day, but still slow for my liking, rangers were visible, I'm not sure if they were moving groups along though because the never said anything to my group, but then again we never had a gap between us and the group ahead of us. Overall I would play it again.
SLOW GREENS !
If you can get past the goose droppings and onto the greens, I suggest you putt with your driver. They are so slow, so fuzzy, and very very bumpy...
If you are a weekend hacker out for a nice walk, the views are great and the restaurant is awesome.
The town should invest in a new lawn mover, roller and new Greenskeeper.
Interesting course layout
First time playing at Crab Meadow and got a great deal from Golfnow.com. Course was in excellent condition - tee boxes/fairways/greens and the bunkers were all well-groomed.
Interesting rolling hills and L.I. Sound views on the back 9!!
Only set-back is the enormous geese population on a couple of the holes!!
Not the best, just ok
Tee to green are in good shape however the greens are extremely slow and breaks half as much as you see. It's almost close to putting in the fairways, nt sure why the greens are kept that long. All the water coolers were empty and no cart girl came around when I went out at 4pm. It was only about 105 heat index. There was a junior camp that went out at 3:30 so I teed off on 7, no big deal. I don't think any reviews in GN mentioned the mosquito, horse flies, and green head that constantly attack you. Keep that in mind if you decide to play here. I am not going to recommend this course because it was no fun getting chewed up by the bugs while playing and the extremely slow greens. However, the layout is pretty good with dog leg left and rights, long and short par 3 and 4.
