Pound Ridge Golf Club

Although the greens were recently aerated when I played, the greens were still in great condition and were exceptionally difficult. The fairways were pristine, as well as the tee boxes. Only complaint was the quality of the range balls. The bucket I was hitting from had quite a few damaged balls, as well as some that had very scuffed covers.

Wish I would have known the greens were punched recently. The layout is great, I mean it is a Pete Dye design. Tee boxes and fairways are very nicely manicured, a must play…if the greens were not recently aerated. I would wait a few weeks before playing the course. Additionally, the cart attendant seemed to take it personally that I was not satisfied with the greens. He acted like a real douche about it. The golf ball reacting like a plinko game on the greens is not worth paying over $100 for a round of golf.

This course has a private feel to it, from the bag handlers to the players and the pristine condition of this bad boy. The difference is in the restaurant amenities but I didn't come to eat fois gras or play tennis.

The first hole is a challenging shortish & tight par four with a marsh pond behind the green. The greens are quick and undulating and you can ruin your round before you begin with a 7 on this short hole if you don't take the speed seriously. Anyway, it's pricey for a public course so make sure someone else is paying for you (and you lose some money to them).

Lots of hills and few flat lies. Rough is thick but fairways are relatively generous. Traps are plentiful but not overly punishing. Blind water can be a problem so study the layout before aiming.

Beautiful layout only issue was greens had not recovered fron Aeration. Should have been discounted for conditions.
