The Swan Golf & Country Club
About
Located just 5 minutes off of the New York State Thruway in Saugerties, The Swan Golf & Country Club (formerly known as The Lazy Swan Golf Course) is a championship 18-hole course designed by Golf Architect Barry Jordan. The course has been exquisitely crafted as “a series of linked passages of natural beauty” with each hole presenting its own unique character and challenges for players to overcome. Players will encounter several cascading and reflection ponds, rock outcroppings, dramatic elevation changes, an alpine garden, and beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains.

The Swan 🦢 is back
Joann and Andrew and the rest of the team are doing doing a great job restoring the course. It’s in the best shape right now. Kudos to you all. The greens are perfect. Staff very helpful and friendly . We will be back
Beauty in Saugerties!
While visiting friends in the Catskills we took the opportunity to check out the Lazy Swan. It came recommended by someone in the local area and it did not disappoint. We (3) teed off early on a Friday morning and had no issues with the speed of play. It was extremely enjoyable, although a bit short even from the "tips", it was challenging enough. Conditions were excellent. More players should fix their ball marks, but that's par for the course just about everywhere today. Great value for the price. Didn't have time to take advantage of the 19th hole but it looked very inviting. I highly recommend this course although selfishly I hope it remains a "hidden gem". Kudos to the friendly staff and the maintenance crew. Keep up the great work!
Great value
Love the swan! Hole 8 will have you licking your chops! Greens are true
Great course, friendly staff. Only drawback is the noise of NY State Thruway on back nine, which is pretty loud and continuous. That’s the only thing preventing a five star rating. Too bad half stars are not allowed, otherwise Swan would get 4.5 Stars. Look forward to playing many times. Thanks
Good course
Greens and Fairways are in great shape. Greens are fast but doesn’t take long to figure out the speed. Challenge course in beautiful setting.
Nice outside bar and restaurant with nice vista.
Very good experience
The course is in great shape and the staff is terrific. Greens putt true and are faster than when I played 2 weeks ago. The bar currently has a limited food menu but it's great place to relax after the round. Pace of play was outstanding.
Golf now $ was fabulous
You need a long drive because they have water on most of the holes . A map of the layout would help a first time playing there . Do not go into the woods to retrieve your ball . Ball retriever needed for the water ,plenty of golf balls along the edges . Great layout ! A snack bar would be an asset.
The Swan is back
The course is in good shape and the staff is very friendly. After being closed for a few years I'm very happy it's back open with good management. Outside bar has a limited menu but what a spectacular setting.
Overpriced, greens were not great although the layout was nice. On a Sunday you would expect you possibly could’ve got a cup of coffee or bottle of water somewhere, but that was nonexistent We later heard that the bar concession area is only open on Thursday which doesn’t do anyone good playing 18 holes on the weekend. More than likely, this one’s a one and done.
Rained out
Beautiful course , friendly staff , unfortunately the heavens opened up after 4 holes heavy rains that wouldn't let up. Staff would have given me
a rain check however I booked through tee off and there's is absolutely no way to contact anyone. Will play this course again.
It's no longer "Lazy"
Name change to just "The Swan". Wonderful day to play. Greens had been aerated a few days before so.a bit bumpy. Glad to see they are doing their part to keep this gem in 4-5 star rating.
Great to be back
It's great Lazy Swan is up and running again. We played on a warm day in late November and the course was in good condition for this time of year. The fairways were dry and bouncy but that is because of the drought. Greens are relatively fast and the overall experience was very good. New pro was friendly and easy going.
Course has a lot to offer
Layout of this course offers amazing elevations and scenic overviews. Great staff and pace of play is always under 4 hours. Course is in great shape even with ongoing drought. Not a drawback but be prepared to deal with a lot of bunker shots as I’m told there are 144 on the course. After a round, the patio bar is top notch as well. Overall, great value and a favorite course of mine.
Lazy Swan
Lazy Swan was excellent and a great value...We enjoyed it.....
