Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club
About
Smithtown Landing Golf Club offers both an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole executive course. The courses are open to the public on weekdays and to Smithtown residents on the weekends. The Regulation Course has a surprisingly tough layout with subtle but tricky contours throughout that cause some challenging lies. Mature trees line the fairways, making accuracy a necessity and there are also several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. At 6,114 yards from the back tees, it's a golf course that requires strategy over length, beginning with the first hole. This dogleg right par 4 will force you to carefully think about the placement off the tee. In addition to the two golf courses, Smithtown Landing also has two practice greens with surrounding short game areas and a driving range.

Slightly better than average muni
I hadn’t played Smithtown Landing in 40 years and remember little about it except that it was hilly and tight. That was confirmed. The layout makes good use of the ample slopes of the north shore of Long Island, and plenty of trees to block your shots on a relatively short course. Greens were very slow as was the pace befitting a very reasonable priced course filled with locals. This is not a destination golf experience. But if you’re in for a tune up and have patience it’s a good choice if you’re nearby. Don’t expect a luxury challenge. But pretty good low cost basic golf. Staff was very friendly.
A layout to enjoy
Not the longest track by far but has its share of quirky holes that will have you using all of your wedges. Not your typical driver with a seven iron in. Refreshing old course. Staff is always friendly. When you work under one of the most notable Master Professionals in the business, Michael Hebron, excellence starts from the top down. While electric carts are available, it is a nice carry with terrain changes that will give a workout. Considering the COVID -19 restrictions ( No rakes, fixed pin) it was a very enjoyable round.
Fun course!
Great day out there, course is in decent shape. Play moved quickly, only had to wait on a few tees.
Greens got faster as the day went on, some greens had some "bald spots" and were a little bumpy, rough was thick too.
It's not a long course, but some holes are tricky dog legs and you can get into a bad position easily. The par 5s are longer though, one was 590yds! Walking was tough, as some holes have a good bit of distance from green to tee.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
Due to COVID the snack shops and restaurant was closed, the soda machine ate my dollar and didn't work.
Great course!!!! Elevations are awesome. Excellent condition
Great features real nice gem of a course. A must play
Glad to Golf
Tee time at 8:44. Walked up to pro shop window - confirmed tee time - assigned other singles - promptly started once foursome in front got to green. Day was changeable in morning to gradually got warmer and sunny for May. The pace was fine. my feet were bothering me - maybe next time will ride - It's hilly in spots - greens were quick for early season greens. It is a beautiful course. We finished in 4 hours and it appeared much more busy midday. Worth trying to get on.
Great track
With Golf Now membership, they send you a code that you can use once a month for a free round (after noon times for Mon - Thurs). This was a great use of that opportunity. And the staff were exceptionally helpful.
Terrible greens
Overall course design was nice. Fairways and rough in good condition, but the greens were awful. Found better conditions playing winter rounds on frozen ground.

Thank you for playing Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Great course.
Been playing here for 36 years and have always enjoyed it. This year there are many improvements, such as newly paved paths and better drainage at the 18th green. Course was in good shape but greens were recently aerated and salted. Still the greens rolled well. It’s a bit of a hike to walk with many elevation changes, but the scenery is beautiful.
Thank you
Throughout this Pandemic, Smithtown Landing and Cherry Creek have held their prices down compared to other some of the others. At $39 (including taxes and res fee ) it’s a great deal while some others in the middle of the Island we up to $58 on up and that’s WALKING. They all did very well, with lots of play during this mild winter so that makes it even more disappointing with the ones that gouged. Thank you Smithtown Landing. and Cherry Creek.
