Nine Hole Par 3 at Smithtown Landing Golf Club

This is a typical “short” public course. The layout is great and keeps things challenging and fun. The course itself is typically in good condition. Their biggest problem is they heavily over book. There is no excuse for the front 9 of any course to take 3hrs. If you ask staff what’s going on or why there is 2 groups backed up on every tee ? They will tell you “well this is a public course”. Which is a complete cop out someone needs to step in and correct this.

The layout of this course is great, but that's about all. There is more elevation here than the average public course on Long Island. There were empty tee times scattered throughout the day, and people showing up late to their slots. We got out early and had 3+ holes empty ahead of us. We caught up right away and were backed up the whole round. As far as course conditions, they are not great. The practice green was great but all 18 greens were beat up very bad and nothing can roll true or even close to it. The fairways were fine. There was 3 groups waiting on the 17th and 18th tees along with my group. That is unacceptable. I did not see one ranger the entire day. I wish this course would be taken care of much more, and maintained better, and it would be a great course to play. The workers and starter were all very nice and offered to get me my money back for my range bucket if we wanted to get out asap and tee off. I waited... and we were still backed up

Slowest round ever.ranger doesn’t do anything.4 groups on the 4th hole and drives right past us

Friendly staff, cart girl came around often, tee to green in great shape. Only complaint is that there was NO water cooler on the course considering it was a 90+ degree day.

The starter was very rude when I questioned him about riding with a complete stranger. The pace of play was extremely slow. I was very disappointed with the entire experience

Pace of play was horrible. Multiple t holes with two groups on the tee box. Also, no drinking water on the course as all water coolers were removed all day. Must be maximizing cart girl sales?!

Great experience def. Will be back. The course was kept well and the greens were not only fast but challenging.

Overcast day with some rain as a twosome we played the front in 1 hr 30 mins then it all went south. Played the back in 2 hrs 30 mins waited on every shot and for the entire back nine there was at least 2 groups on every tee box. No ranger no concern for slow play on the back which is why I only play Landing once or twice a year. Notoriously slow and no one does anything. Greens were slow and bumpy, tee boxes much better than normal but slow play is a deal breaker.
