Unmown fairway at Somers Pointe West! Photo submitted by Natmare on 07/05/2013
Much to be desired.
Most greens were covered with leaves including putting green.
Under staffed regarding maintenance - a few workers finally showing up mid afternoon to clear off some greens… they had all morning to do so. Unpleasant and frustrating experience to say the least. Will not be returning.
Getting Better
The front 9 is beat up however a big improvement on the 3rd hole new bunker looks great just pay attention to the other bunkers . The back 9 was well kept greens and tee boxes much better. There’s more attention going on for November then there’s ever been and it’s a good thing. Nonetheless it’s not really a club status golf course .The national will hopefully live up to it’s name keep working on it
We thank you for the honest feedback for Somers. We pride ourselves on providing a challenging, well taken care of course for our golfers. We acknowledge that there are areas of the golf course that do not yet meet even our own high expectations, but we are committed to improving our product, people and processes to create an amazing experience for our customers. We look forward to welcoming you back again, as we know we can provide a 5-star experience.
Rude pro shop/membership staff
Walked in to the club house to use men’s room. A stocky looking pro shop manager asks if I need help. I said is it ok to take a quick walk around the club house. He says I am not allowed to hang around the club house including the picnic area as it’s reserved for the ladies golf outing. I mentioned this to a senior staff who refused to believe his pro shop man is a genuine red neck. Nice challenging course otherwise.
I’ve asked Golf Advisors and Golf Pass to remove my initial comment shown above.
Thank you,
Thank you for your comment. I should’ve said he impressed me as a red neck at the time as I do not know him. At least since I am clearly order than him, his tone of voice and mannerism should’ve been more respectful.
James, while we thank you for your kind words about our course, we are very sorry to hear that you did not have the amazing experience that we all strive for with our staff. We all take great pride in leaving a positive impression with every single one of our members and guests. Please feel free to contact us at 914-342-3273 if you'd like to speak to us regarding your concerns. We would love another chance.
Fun Track!
Love this course as it’s a fun little track. Makes you play with every club in your bag.
We're so happy to read your review! We look forward to hosting you again soon for another round.
Tough course, especially if you've never played
Tight fairways, lots of dog legs and the greens....undulating and fast isn't even fair to describe these greens. Challenging course but kept in great condition. A greens keeper said "it's a bowling alley on a mountain"...even the fairways wouldn't stop a ball from rolling.
Brutal course, too narrow, too fast & severe slanted greens
Somers National GC is very puzzling. Who would like this course? Maybe a lefty who fades the ball, likes narrow, slanted fairways & rounds top or severely slanted greens that have many false fronts, & cut so they run about a 12 on the stimpmeter. Brutal. Almost every dogleg goes left, with the fairway slanted right! Brutal. The greens look large, but the severe slanting or rounded top or false front, give you only 60% usable green. Ok, so you've stuck with narrow fairways, so water their edges so that middle fairway shot doesn't roll into the woods! Stop cutting the greens! Severe slope-ok, fast greens-ok...But Not Both!! Avoid this one unless you like 4 putts & lost balls that landed in the fairway, but rolled into the schmutz! And I am a 6 hdcp golfer! Sorry Somer Nat'l. I wish I could say something nice. Hey, staff was very pleasant & locker rooms are nice.
We are disheartened to read your review of Somers. While we appreciate your compliments to our personable staff, we are sorry if you were not impressed. Were you able to speak with management about your concerns? We urge you to give us an email or call at info@somersnational.com and 914-342-3273 to speak about your thoughts further.
Horrible experience with stater
My golf carrier is over 30 years
This course staff stater is so bad service like a general
My tee time is 1:24 we just waiting for start
1:05 nobody starter show up
We start 1:10 we self
After we been playing 2 hole
Starter find me and then so angry reason is he didn’t tell go
That situation is nobody with line that’s mean is course is empty
I will never go there again
My life has horrible experience with starter
We acknowledge that there are areas of the golf course that do not yet meet even our own high expectations. But with the cooler weather and the ability to fertilize and water properly after the near-drought conditions, we are committed to improving our product, people and processes to create an amazing experience for our customers. We wished that you would have expressed your concerns to our management and staff so we can address them with you directly and in a specific manner. Please feel free to contact me. I would like to discuss your experience further and tell you more about what the future holds for this Club, and hopefully earn back your business in the future.
