Unmown fairway at Somers Pointe West! Photo submitted by Natmare on 07/05/2013
Enjoyable experience, nice people, good value. Nice course
We are seniors. Found the course quite challenging. Friendly staff. Course in decent condition. At the right price, we would come again.
Booked a 7am tee time on what turned out to be a rainy day. Called the pro shop at 6am & 630am to check course conditions but there was no answer. Drove 40 minutes to the course only to find a stake in the ground saying “course closed.” Perhaps with the recent renovations management can invest in an outgoing voicemail message for inclement weather. So often the golfer experience is defined by the little things...awareness of tee times and the golfers who hold them would be a nice start.
Beautiful course.
Due to the renovation all facility is not normal shape. Few Hole number direction sign was missing so I have to back and forth few times.
Very narrow fairway. It is not easy make good score. Nice layout all over the course.
In great condition
Vast improvements underway. On its way to becoming an excellent golf venue, and all the amenities that go with it.It is currently undergoing clubhouse and restaurant renovation, looks like it will be fabulous when completed.
Good value for the price.
This was a very tough round for me , first time playing . This is a course for a precision type player , not the weekend warrior.
Course should have closed it was unplayable
Arrived early for tee time starter let me go out , once on the golf course I realized it was soaked from the day before. casual water everywhere. Why they put a cart out I will never know. I was the only player out on course that I know of. after eight holes it started to pour then on hole nine the thunder and lightening started. I had to quit playing. However had I not played I would have been charged anyway! poor policy by Golf Now. the course was so soaked that I felt I the cart was bogged down where there were no cart paths ! overall bad experience. Long ride for nothing.
Personal experience
Arise from ZERO amenities, loved the course
No beer
No food
No eye candy cart girl
Just food ole plain golf, if that's what you are looking for
Needs Work
Course is being sold. Course and club house need lots of work. Won't play there again until New owner takes over. I met him and seems like a good fit.
Unkempt
This course needs a lot of work. Seems to be let go.
Great Fun!
Can’t wait to play this course again. The rough was more than rough due to the fact a tornado had past through a week or so earlier so they were trying to catch up with all the fallen trees. The course is in some kind of transition from originally being a “Country Club” to now going semi-public I think. No restaurant or pro shop. But the course is awesome! Looking forward to playing here many more times.
A pleasurable challenge
Long and narrow with many elevation changes and a fair bit of water, this is a course that really tests accuracy off the tee and will never be boring no matter how often one plays it. For many of the par 4 holes a long iron or hybrid is the wise choice off the tee. The course was well maintained—despite understandably needing to catch up on some things due to the recent storms. Staff is always friendly and accommodating and there is a great clubhouse and restaurant overlooking the 18th green.
So so
Has the potential for a decent course...
Had to play back 9 twice... front 9 was in bad shape.
Course is in the process of being sold...
No pro shop.... 1 or 2 maintenance crew.... no ball washers ...no nothing!!!
Pass on this course
B-
This course could greatly improve the playing experience by adding yardage markers (100, 150, 200) on the par 4’s and 5’s that are easy to locate. Some holes have tiny 150 markers embedded in the fairways that are difficult to find unless right near them. Rakes to tidy up the sand traps would be nice too. Overall, this can be a challenging course to play with some tough dog legs and elevation changes on almost every hole. Make a bad or poorly placed shot and it will cost you a stroke.
Great condition.. great staff... good course layout
Played Friday 5/4/2018 at 1.20pm. The course condition and staff friendliness was excellent . The pace of play was execellent till 4pm. Then got behind a a group on 10th who played really slow but the course and course condition were excellent to make up for that a minor hiccup . it’s a private country club with challenging golf course, golfnow had great price including cart to make it worth every penny. Thank you golfnow and somers pointe country club
