Not sure why all the bad reviews
I played about 60 rounds a year and decided last minute to come over here for a nice afternoon around and I have to be honest compared to last year because of the drought conditions. I’m not sure I understand all of the negative reviews.
The course is in great shape, and the starter was pleasant, and so was the pace of play. The greens also were in good shape.
Save for some of the weird layouts on a few holes a majority are fair enough and challenging enough that you would want to play again.
I would certainly come back and play again, especially in the fall
Thank you so much for your review of Somers National Golf Club! We truly appreciate the feedback and hope to hear from you again.

Pretty views
Like the non crowded feel of course , location and availability of tee times good for me. Course is as good as any. Must be very good player to score well . Can’t be obcessed with score to enjoy this course
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad to hear that you enjoy the course.
Frustratingly tight
It’s one thing for a shorter, hilly course to be tight, and there are a bunch of tight courses around Northern Westchester, but Somers was comically right to the point of almost unplayable. Other than some brown spots, the greens were rolling, but then pins were on side hills.
Not sure how you fix the too right problem, but I think there’s a lot of brush/bushes that could be cleared out between holes which would help.
Unlikely to return.
We are concerned about not meeting your expectations. Please reach out to us at info@somersnational.com or 914-342-3273.
The staff needs training.
I played the course twice in 1 week because the course layout is exceptional. The greens are rolling nice and super quick, also the fairways and rough are plush. The tee boxes need a little TLC and need to be leveled. One of my problems with playing there is the staff. The starter really needed an attitude adjustment, if you speak to me in a condescending manner and tone, you will get it back ten times worse. Rushing me at the turn was unnecessary, especially as the course was not full and if the course had a ranger, then this individual would have seen, we were not slowing up play. Which brings me to my other concern, the 2 days I played there, they wasn't a ranger in sight and the group in front of us was holding everyone up from the 7th hole through to the 18th.
One last thing, why would there only be 2 things to eat on the menu, hotdogs and a cold buffalo chicken wrap. I asked for the wrap to be heated and it was heated on the outside and not throughout the wrap. My friend ate his because he was hungry, I did not. I ate enough cold food in the military. It is absurd to charge full price for a pre-made cold wrap, and without any fries or chips.
I only recommend the course, because the course is amazing, everything else, buyer beware.
Thank you for the review and we appreciate your kind comments regarding our course. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the course ranger. It is never our staff’s intention to rush our players to make them feel uncomfortable. We will also take your comments about our food selection into account to improve our choices moving forward. Thank you again and we hope to welcome you back for a better experience we know we are capable of!
great layout
for the competitive golfer, elevations, doglegs, one of the most interesting courses...needs landscaping staff...too much dirt, some fairways ok and greens generally solid, a few bad ones but the layout is really tough. Ranger seems like hes got an issue with slow play but c'mon...this ain't shinnecock, you can't run a $60 course like a country club...lol
Hello there, Thank you for your review of our course. We are happy to see you enjoyed your round and appreciate the feedback about our course and ranger. We hope to welcome you back for another round soon!
Ranger is out of his mind
I have never had so much difficulty with a ranger in my life. We were told off the first hole we are setting the pace for the day and there would be no one after us for 30 minutes. The ranger then followed us for the first three holes watching our every shot. At the third hole he talked to us about pace of play (still no one behind us) to which we brushed off. Get to the 5th hole the ranger is waiting there to lecture us on how tough the next two holes are (taking up more time). We get to the next tee and notice the tee box is awfully far up for the whites. After we hit our second shots I looped back around to see the ranger moving the tee box back to its original positing (STILL NO ONE BEHIND US). We didn’t have a single group catch us until hole #16 which they waited at most a minute for us to finish up putts on a short par 4. I will never play here again in my life and I suggest anyone looking to play here do the same unless you want that ***hole breathing down your throat your whole round.
Hello Michael, We apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused by our ranger. It is never our intention to make our players feel uncomfortable ore feel rushed while navigating the course. Please reach out to us at info@somersnational.com or 914-342-3273 as we are looking to deal with the issue directly. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.
Course is poor and overpriced
For the amount of money it costs to play here, I would be safe to say that it is a scam. The course is poorly staffed by Perry DiNapoli, as the tee box conditions stay the same as if I was going back once a month. Yes the course is challenging with the dog legs and hills. But fairways are ugly and beat up just like the greens, and the holes. Somers ever heard of a cart person or someone asking about drinks or anything. I don’t not recommend this course for the amount of money it cost to play here. It’s mainly for the the guys that know the owners and people at the club, or if ur rich and and don’t care about paying 50-100$ for a terrible conditioned course
Good Afternoon, The course conditions are a direct impact of the drought conditions we’ve experienced throughout the summer. It is not due to the lack of attention of the maintenance staff. We're still waiting on that much needed rain. At Somers National, we heavily rely on mother nature to generate enough natural water to feed the ponds situated throughout the course.
During your recent round, you’ve probably noticed the extremely low water levels of the ponds. We are a course that relies on adequate rainfall and we are more vulnerable to damage during a drought. We’ve encountered a spell of dry weather that we haven’t seen in many many years. In cases like this, there isn’t much our superintendent and operations team can do other than try to keep primary playing areas, like the greens, healthy and wait for rain. When grasses are stressed by lack of water, they go into drought-induced dormancy where growth slows and the grass loses color. In most cases, the grass is not dead and will regain its color once rain returns.
We try to make every guest aware of the situation and conditions prior to their rounds. We've noted the conditions prominently on our website as well as the booking confirmation notes.
Again, we are sorry we did not provide a positive experience. We are looking forward to better weather conditions in a few weeks. We hope you will give us another opportunity. At any time, please feel free to contact us at info@somersnational.com or 914-342-3273
