Slowest play in the world
5 agonizing hours. Course filled with beginners and no Marshall. The staff just don’t care
Learn to promote goodwill
Have been playing this course for about 30 years now .
They rebuilt 6 tee boxes last year completely with bulldozers in June . Someone probably died donated money with time stipulation. The tee boxes are now open and course is in great shape.
The part of this facility that continues to deteriorate is the aging senior staff. From one senior (me) to the seniors who work there and act like they hate the game and treat others with disrespect and ignorance. Do yourself a favor and call in sick when you feel NEGATIVE . I happen to love this game with all my heart. Whenever you get a chance to treat someone with courtesy while working do it because that is what this game is; a hedge against all with no respect. You got to have respect and courtesy to play this game ; that is what it reinforces in all of us.
Have not been back since last time . Course is in great shape.
Usually good
This place needs a ranger. Usually it moves pretty good but this past Sunday was brutal. A foursome on the course, stopping in the middle of the fairway takes pictures and just holding things up by talking rather than hitting in a timely manner. Taking multiple shots each. Two holes open in front of them and there was a back log of players behind them. Just a long round near 5 hours with is ridiculous.
Nope.
Took an hour to play the first three holes, to then get to the 4th tee and find two groups waiting to hit - us joining them made it three groups waiting.
On the weekends, this course attracts many beginner golfers who do not possess the skills to play on a full-scale course, nor do they possess any knowledge of the golf etiquette required to avoid slow play. So unless you want to take 6 hours to play 18 holes on a less-than-inspiring layout, give it a miss.
Always a Favorite
With the improvements to the tee boxes, this has impressed me as an excellent golf course. The fairways and greens were in excellent conditions.
Great staff but very slow pace of play
Super friendly staff, very nice overall conditions for a municipal course, but there are no rangers in the course keeping the pace of play. Eight minutes between tee times is not enough on the weekends for this course.
A decent little pasture
I hate to bash a local goat ranch, but it wouldn’t take much to make this a better place to play. Especially because it has a fun layout.
Here are some suggestions…
Use a mower. Everything is overgrown, greens, rough, tee boxes, etc. maybe roll them too..? Maybe care?
Use a Blower. There is an obscene amount of debris on these greens. Hard to believe there isn’t one staff member who might know how to use a leaf blower…
Don’t randomly send people out whenever. It’s as simple as telling a group to wait until the first group gets off the green to tee up. Pretty common practice.
It’s Back!
Major work was done last year to the tee boxes. Also irrigation work was done for the fairways, which showed with some nice grass in the fairways and roughs.
If you’re playing this course pls replace your divots and ball marks. Let’s show our appreciation for their efforts. Great course for a municipal course in NYC.
FP in great shape
Tee boxes are all ready for 2024. lush green fairways and greens were rolling smooth. Great course and challenge with the trees and tight chutes off the tee.
Neglect
This course attracts a lot of beginner golfers who are slow and don’t understand course etiquette or golf cart etiquette. Since the course management can’t be bothered to send out one of their many cranky old men on a cart to be a Marshall pace of play is glacial and tips for the beginners to understand where to park their carts never happens. And gee whiz is it too hard to color coordinate the flag sticks red white blue so we can figure out where the hole locations are like every other normal course. Come on FPGC be better. Do better.
Great course
Would definitely recommend this course. The conditions are good, staff is friendly, and the value for the price is great. Parking can be an issue if extremely busy but they do have a parking lot. The pace of play in the morning is great.
Golf course is really nice, but has not much amenities
I love this golf course, I would be even thrilled to play more often if it has many amenities such as drive thru food and drink vendor to various golf holes. The other main thing is a toilet at midway to the play, say around 10 holes.
