What happened
First time I played this course was about 2 years so and the course was decent. Greens were solid and the course over all was ok. Now just played there and every green had crab grass growing all over it. Yon can’t have a putt actually roll they just hop it’s horrible. Not a single tee box had enough flat area to stand you had to tee off on an uneven lie every hole. I teed off at 1pm then by the time I got to the 12th hole I didn’t even have tee markers to play from. The range took them all off the tee boxes and put them to the side. It’s not even 4pm in the summer and the ranger is taking away all the tee markers. What that about. I can understand if I tee off twilight and sun is starting to go down but it’s only 4pm when sun sets at 8pm. Horrible. I went back for the first time this year and played a bunch there last year. Not going back now. Save your money go somewhere else.
Underwhelming
Pace of play was beyond horrendous. Ended up behind a 4 some of young guys who must be new to the game. They waited for the green to clear on a par 4 and each hit the ball 50 yards.
Course wasn’t in great shape either. Spotty and sandy greens with crabgrass in the fairways. I can’t say I’d recommend it.
A hidden gem
Right in the middle of interstates, malls, local homes, and a big city, is an experience that makes you forget all that! Dunwoodie is a hidden gem that makes you think you're miles from humanity. A great complex, friendly staff, it's like a country club for city dwellers. Such a great time. But.....hit it straight or you'll pay....!
Nice little track
some short holes, some tight holes, some easy holes. Staff is great and greens held nicely.
Rude and Inconsiderate
The pace of play was horrendous. Showed up on time for a 3:57 and the group in front of us were the worst group of golfers i’ve ever seen. Played the entire round from the tips and more often than not one was hitting their second shot from around where the ladies tee was. The course has carts with the GPS but the Ranger didn’t come out once to tell them to speed up the round. Around 8 PM we were on hole 16, the longest round of golf i’ve ever played, and the Ranger had the gall to come up to my group and tell us we couldn’t play anymore because he they were short staffed and it would take them too long into the night to clean the carts if we didn’t wrap up. They offered no partial refund or credit. Absolute joke of a staff and course. Will not be coming back.
Almost the Total Package
I like Dunwoodie, because in addition to the mandatory putting green and driving range, it has a pitching/chipping green. Now if it had practice bunkers, it would be the total package. This is a hilly course, so you will encounter sufficient uphill, downhill and sideways lies. There are no water hazards. The pro shop is fully stocked, and the snack bar includes an outdoor patio.
Dunwoodie
Nice Westchester course. Wooded tight front and more open back. In very good condition and pace of play was decent for a Saturday round. Used to have views of the city but apparently the rental income from a cell-tower positioned it dead-center of the 18th (couldn't you just move it to the left over the cart garage?) was more important than the view, but who's paying attention to that. Full range + putting and chipping area and convenient to NYC what more can you ask for.
Still like the course
I've played Dunwoodie and it's always been a great course, especially for the price. Usually play the blues, played the blacks which makes it much tougher. Love the electric carts with GPS. My only concern was the maintenance was noticeably lacking today. Small patches of crabgrass on some greens and teeboxes. I hope they get this cleaned up.
Ok
It was in very good shape. Just was a very hard day. I will play again.
Hidden Gem
Loved the course layout, level of difficulty, fair conditions. This has become a go-to course for me in the NYC area.
Dunwoody
The course is in good condition and it is easy to get to / not far away from Scarsdale but the holes are too short. Many par 4s are less than 300 yards even from the black (farthest) tees.
