Mohansic Golf Course

We were only able to play 13 holes in four hours...held up for ages with a drunk foursome in front of us who spent more time videotaping themselves being moronic than actually playing, and were passed by three groups ahead of us. Ranger should be out regulating pace of play. Was also charged non-resident rate and am a resident. Beautiful course, convenient location, but pace of play will stop me from going back.

In better condition than most in the area. Very nice staff to deal with.

Overall pretty round, just the group ahead of us played so slow, and No ranger to push.

Great day on the course! A little rough getting going with the starter and cart situation, but beautifully manicured. The sprinklers can be distracting.

Slow greens no rangers a decent course that I might play again but it would never be my first option

Nice course condition, finished 18 hole within 4 hours.

First time playing the course and found it challenging. Most holes are long, with blind greens. Because of the hilly terrain, it is a guess off the tee, especially with rises that do not allow for visibility beyond the ridge line. However, the course is in good shape and plays quite well. Fast greens and well manicured fairways made for interesting play. The course was crowded, but the pace of play was excellent. I recommend it.

I've played this course a handful of times, since it's a bit of a trek from my home in the Bronx, but it's always been worth the trip. The holes are a nice combination of strategic golf off some tees, and back breaking long hauls on other holes.

My only critique that holds back a perfect score is the number of blind shots that sometimes penalize a good tee ball. But the greens are always in good shape and roll pretty true.

Mohansic golf Course is still the Best of all the county courses,Staff,Operations,,challenge, ,price ,+ a driving range. While conditions at Hudson Hills are better....they are not so great that the course should be Cart path only "ALWAYS". I for one will continue to play Mohansic over HH until they either 1-provide a course = to private or 2- they stop their current practice of carts on cart path only no matter the weather>

Westchester holds a notable but rather strange place in the world of golf. It has perhaps the highest concentration of world-class golf courses anywhere on earth, but all are private and inaccessible to the average golfer (with the exception of the $250/person Pound Ridge, which is excellent). However, the county does have a number of public municipal courses for the (vast) majority of residents who don’t belong to a private club.

Sure, none of these are of the same caliber as Winged Foot, Quaker, or Hudson National, but they offer some great golf at an affordable price.

I am telling you now that Mohansic is the best of the Westchester municipal courses. The course is legitimately challenging, on par with a number of the lower and central Westchester privates in terms of design difficulty. There are a number of ~450 yard par fours, including the challenging uphill number one handicap hole. The par threes offer length from the tips and bunkering on the course can be properly penal. Unlike most of the other Westchester publics, there seem to be very few giveaway (easy) low 300 yard par fours.

The land is well suited for golf here and offers elevation changes and a number of challenging uphill approaches. One could imagine that with some lengthening and greens revisions (they roll well but don’t offer the same undulation as most of the Westchester privates) this could be one of the better public courses in the entire NY metro.

Conditioning and pace are both above average for courses of this tier. I do imagine this course could be challenging for a higher handicap golfer. In my view it is much more challenging than a place like Maple Moor (and I love Maple Moor by the way). It is a good test for the low to mid handicap golfer.

In short- you should play here and enjoy what is the best municipal course in Westchester.
