Quail Creek Golf Course

About
Quail Creek Golf Club is tied for being the most difficult public course in the St. Louis area. Designed by Hale Irwin, the course is laid across rolling hills laced with meandering streams. The layout requires accuracy with narrow fairways and hard-to-read greens. Water hazards come into play frequently as do trees and bunkers. It is a formidable test for any skill level. Most of the holes have a risk-reward element, making the course more accessible by placing an emphasis on strategy over strength. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 ninth. It will favor golfers who successfully cut the corner, making it possible to reach the green in two. This tricky hole demands accurate mid-iron play. Quail Creek Golf Club finishes with an interesting par 4 that has water along the left side of both the fairway and green.

What’s the seal
Course reminded me of playing on a country course back in the 60’s
Greens were poor in dire need of fertilization, seed, water and overall care
Have played 15 different courses this season this course is rated at #15 which is really sad
Will never play again.
Unfortunately this course might be the worse course I have ever played. The staff never stated that the flagsticks were not out. The cart was bad, the fairways were the worse and the layout from 9 to 10 was not outlined at all.
Skip it
Played today with a couple buddies. Courage is in decent shape and that’s probably putting it nicely. Because of virus concerns, there were ZERO flags in the pins which made it impossible to know where to shoot. I’d skip this and play another course in the area which provides a better value for the money.
This was the worst course I have ever played on and I hope no one else goes there to play.
My son and I booked on GolfNow and selected Quail Creek because I had played the course many years ago. The carts operated poorly, but the cart path were worse. They were dangerous and in terrible condition. Tee boxes were jammed together and one tee box had the water connection in the middle of the tee box. Fairways had standing water that could not be detected until you were right on it by foot or cart. Finally, the greens were in the worse condition I have experienced and not really even playable. After 9 holes we had had enough and asked for our money back or at least a credit for the remaining 9 holes (I would have given the credit to someone I didn’t care for.) You guessed it, NO was the answer. As we left the facility, I wanted to warn others of the terrible condition of the course. That’s what I think GolfNow should do for people who aren’t familiar with the course they choose or haven’t been there in many years. I dare you to have someone go take a look at this location and see if you continue to allow it to remain on the app.
Rough greens
Most of the course was in decent shape, but the greens were not in good condition at all.
Poor Course Conditions
The fairways were rock hard with plenty of bald or bare spots, making ball striking difficult. Several of the greens were bumpy and plenty of bare spots. The cart paths and playing surfaces were the roughest ride in a cart I've ever experienced, a concern for individuals with any sort of back issues. I will not play this course again, even if it's free.
Very disappointed
I have played this course around 10 times.
First , it was just 2 of us playing. When we got there they told us we had to pair up with another twosome.
Under normal circumstances and/or if they were crowded, I would understand
There was no one behind us until I saw a group teeing off when we were on hole 6.
When I asked why , the person in charge was rude ,kept repeating how this is at every course .
I understand with the pandemic no one is touching pins, they did not have any pins in any of the holes .
We were told that the front 9 holes were in the front and the back nine holes were in the back.
It was very difficult on par 3’a and approach shots.
All the other courses have it set up that the ball does not go all the way in the cup, but have a pin.
Finally , I know it is early , but the course and especially the greens were in terrible shape.
We will not return .
Thanks
Seed the Fairways!
I've always loved the Quail Creek layout. It's a challenging track that makes you think and has some very tight holes. I know there has been uncertainty as to whether this course would remain in business for the last couple of years, but I think they now have the security they were asking for and all they need to do is seed the fairways and grow some grass. The greens are great for the most part. They roll well and are challenging in their own right. But they're consistent from green to green, so any amateur hack likes that. They've cleared out TONS of brush and trees and overall you can see where you;re going a lot better. Hoping to see this course in rocking shape in 2021 or 2022.
Dont Go There!
i read the bad reviews but needed a place to play, Underneath all the obvious maintenance issues is a pretty cool layout! The people who work there are very arrogant about "allowing you to be there" They suck, the course is in bad shape, do your self a favor and just stay away!! I played Tapawingo a few days before, they get it and you will be happy you went there instead. I live in Illinois Im driving either way!!
I’m curious?
How does a course that has extremely poor reviews have an extremely rude staff to go along with it. Gotta love the consistency of doing a bad job all the way around.
course needs a lot of work
Several fairways have been horrible for years. You think they could fix one at a time like # 11

Good Round
I haven't played this course since last April because I had an issue with the staff. I played today because I decided to try again. I'm glad I did. The staff was very cordial. I had no issues with the staff. The course wasn't in great shape, and there is a reason. It is December 5. I'm playing golf in December in St. Louis. I didn't expect the course to be in as good of shape as it is. I had a good round and a great day.
