About
Sugar Creek Golf Course offers some of the best scenery of any course in the St. Louis area. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the course's elevated tees. The course opened in 1990 with several improvements made in the following years. The layout is a manageable length at just under 6,100 yards. It is player-friendly enough for beginners to approach with confidence but there are also challenges in store for more advanced players. Water only comes into play on one hole but there are stands of trees lining the narrow fairways. The golf course will generously reward accuracy and good strategy though it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. In addition to the course, Sugar Creek G.C. also boasts an expansive practice range with 35 hitting stations.

Young children should not play on the weekends
I grabbed an afternoon tee time on Mother’s Day for two of us. We got there early and were ready before our designated tee time. At hole 1 the Marshall (Ron, who is amazing) told us that a few groups ahead of us included young children (under 10 years old). They were told to allow the quicker groups to play through. That didn’t happen. The group ahead of us was held up at every hole, which then held us up. It was frustrating.
Improving Every Year
The course condition has improved every year since I started coming here about 5 years ago. Greens were acceptable and average speed. Fairways markedly improved but they also seem to be keeping the grass longer than most courses. Off the fairways and the tee boxes were in need of improvement - and they were doing work on this area on some holes. If you like quirky elevation changes and unique holes AND you’re willing to deal with tight fairways then give it a try. Price is usually very competitive for courses of equal conditions.
Great value for the money
Interesting layout for sure. Some holes are truly bizarre (10 and the two Par 3s that go straight up and straight down) but it’s early in the season and the price was so right. Would play again. Fun day.
Excellent for the money
Hills make it interesting compared to other courses, Just need to work on some of the tee boxes.
Great Staff, Greens, & Pace!
We originally only booked 9 and then ended up paying to play the back half after we played the front 9! Beautiful layout, some really cool holes and pace of play was great. Never felt rushed and didn’t wait hardly at all! Will definitely be back!
Great Course to Play
This is an incredible course to play. Staff is friendly and accommodating, pace of play is great, and the greens are second to none.
The course layout makes for a fun and challenging day. Would recommend to anyone!
Fun course
This was a fun course with interesting holes at the top or bottom of hills. We really enjoyed the front 9.
Awesome course!
Had a great experience out here. The pro shop staff was unbelievable, super friendly and easy to deal with. You can tell they actually care about the place and the people coming through.
Big shoutout to the staff for keeping pace of play moving too. Makes a huge difference and they did a great job with it.
Course itself is in awesome shape. Fairways and greens were dialed in.
If you’re thinking about checking it out, do it. You won’t regret it.
Always Improving
I play Sugar Creek several times per year. They are always improving the course. Currently the fairways are in very good shape, the greens were a bit slow likely for to the season and fairways were being cut while I was playing. There are many temp tee boxes while permanent tees are under improvement. Sugar Creek staff is great across the board.
Really fun layout
This course has such a cool layout and just beautiful fairways. I would recommend this course to anyone at any level of play. It is very versatile. Can’t wait to golf here again!

Greens and fairways not in best condition, but this time of year passable. Although a little overpriced for the shape it was in.
Great Layout, Horrible Condition
Weeds for grass on tee boxes. Greens have dead spots everywhere, fairways were like playing in the rough. Hate to see this, wish they would get it back in shape because the layout is awesome! Friendly staff, but it’s not worth what their charging..
Needs Help
Golf course needs A LOT of help. Played here on 9/6, and was throughly disappointed. Not sure how was this was named “Golf Course of the Year”.
