Devan Bonebrake demonstrates a drill that has your arms and hands “scissor” to create clubhead speed, square the face, and make the right divot.

Thanks. I had an intuition that I had gravitated away from this completed motion..... holding off and using body more like a 1/2 pitch. So that led to swinging more down and a bit harder with irons, rather than the fairly clean 'pop' I felt with confident mid-irons. Yes, needs some relaxation, and timing, but benefits are easier distance, shallow divots, more assurance. (and less torque on relatively simple swings)
Do this with fairway woods and drivers too?
Ok, I hear you, but the timing seems so critical and easy to make a mistake. Assuming you club head needs to be square to the ball, what if you over scissor hand and the ball takes off left or you skin the ball for a dribble. Or is this drill just a concept where you don't expect someone to be able to pull off that switch that quickly. Thanks
Very good stuff - thanks!
What should be the grip pressure?
Good Instruction and visuals as always - extremely helpful to develop the proper tempo and accompanying speed. Thank you, Devan!
