I am not sure I understand your question. For this drill, you only need to lift your left heel and swing the driver normal and allow the club head to release, Let me know if you have another question.

I was not trying to shift my weight at all. In fact, the purpose of this drill is to stay back and allow the club face to release. The cause of the slice is getting too far ahead of the ball before contact and not releasing the face. Keeping the left heel up and staying back eliminates one of the reasons you slice it. The only thing you need to do is then just release the face. Try it. I promise, it works.

With the ball on the ground contact should be made with a slight downward angle of attack. This requires hands forward of the ball at impact. With driver, the ball is teed up off the ground and optimal performance is attained with a slightly upward angle of attack which adds a little loft to the already low lofted face and reduces the backspin on the ball. Added loft results in higher launch trajectory with longer carry which is aided by lower backspin rate not causing shot to" ballon" and lose distance

The mission of golf is to start the face square at address, swing the club, and bring it back to square. If you do that, the ball will go straight every time. If the hands are too far forward, the face will be open. Too many students try to move forward ahead of the ball to rotate or shift their weight prematurely and the face never has a chance to get to the ball. Trust me on this. Try the drill. Square up the face and you will hit it straighter than you ever have. The body will always follow the face. I am not saying the body will not move. It does.

When you do this drill on the ground with an iron, move the ball back inn your stance a little. It still works.

Power is generated by club head speed with the body being used as leverage. When you stabilize the body and generate speed with the club head you start to hit it far. Not saying to hang back. Saying to use your body as leverage.
