Where on the ball are you trying to strike
Great drill. Can you now show that shot with the ball in a little deeper rough close to the green and the pin in the middle. Ball should be sitting low in the rough.
A front camera shot would have been helpful. The way you were describing it (to me) it looked like you'd scoop the ball.
I hit my flop shot differently. Wide stance. Weight forward, hands low, hinged, let club head pass under the ball stop hands at the ball position. Also you need a good lie some room under the ball otherwise you will skull it

This close to the green intorduces a lot more risk than a simple little chip? Maybe this woudl be more appropriate if you had to clear an obstacle like a buunker?
