About
Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden (formerly known as Belvedere Country Club) in Hampstead begins along the Intracoastal Waterway and then moves inland towards the clubhouse. The back nine is routed through tall forests that provide a home to grey heron and osprey. The golf course forms a large figure eight, which means you won't find any parallel fairways, but you will also be faced with wind whipping in every direction. The unique layout consists of six par 3s, seven par 4s, and five par 5s that all place a heavier emphasis on accuracy than distance. Many of the greens are elevated and the fairways are lined with trees. The par 3s are some of the most demanding holes due to their small, narrow greens. They are the toughest greens to hit in regulation but luckily if your placement isn't perfect there are still opportunities to save your score.

The Challenge
Loved the layout! Number one green was a challenge. The course was pretty well maintained. They did have mats on the Par 3 tees. However, you can see the need for them. Fun course to play!
Better than 18 months ago
I played here about 18 months ago and the course was horrible. The guy that I played with told me that Ironclad just bought it and was turning it around. So I wasn’t too hard last time but I think I got my point across.
I played a different course last week and the guy I was playing with that day told me that Ironclad was much better, so I tried it again.
This time there was a lot more grass than the first time. The greens were in better shape but still had some dead spots on them. The beverage cart choices were limited but it is still better than no beverage cart. And the beverage cart girl was very friendly, which always offsets the choices. The carts were on the older side but understandable due to taking care of the course first. So I will definitely play this again in a few months to see the progress.

Best course around for the cost
I have played many courses in and around Onslow county. This course reminded me of playing at the courses at Disney. Well kept, hardly any broken tees on the tee boxes, friendly starter with good knowledge of the course, and a very fun course overall. Hit them straight because the rough can get deep.
100% recommend giving this course a try.

Nice course, nice people
Came out to play as a single, they accommodated me no problem on a Saturday morning. Got matched up with another single and we had a great time. Course was in fine condition, greens were fast and smooth. Shout out to the 2 ladies running the show, in the clubhouse and as the starter. They were so nice! Pace of play was good, the foursome in front of us let us play through immediately.
Slow play!
Always enjoy the challenge of the course and really appreciate all the work that Iron Clad has put into improving the course.
The three players ahead of us were hitting 2-3 balls each which backed up play.
