Hibiscus Golf Club
About
Hibiscus Golf Club is one of the few 18-hole courses in Naples that are open to the public. The course is player enough for beginners and while it may not be what you're looking for if you're in search of a formidable test, it's good for some casual practice for the more advanced player. The layout balances player-friendly, wide fairways with greens that are guarded by strategically placed bunkers. There is a series of lakes and streams throughout the golf course that come into play on nearly every hole. The golf course has seen several improvements since it first opened in 1969, especially after it was badly damaged from a hurricane. More than 200 trees were added as well as 1,200 grasses and shrubs. Hibiscus Golf Club also has a driving range and putting green.

In Decline
I played Hibiscus 3 years ago and it was fantastic. This time, the starter was alittle rigid. He was very adamant not to approach the 1st tee until group ahead was past the 150 marker.
OK. Had to pay $10 for a small bucket of balls. When we went to the driving range there were half used buckets of balls everywhere. Waste of $10. Course fairways and rough had invasive grasses mixed in everywhere. Couse isn't being kept up as it was in the past. Might be because the course is going private in Mar of 2027.
Interesting only spoilt was silly stuff
So we played at 0932
Group in front 0908
We caught them on first hole !!
They took 30 mins to play first hole - Ranger said he would give them a push !!! 2 ladies and 2 men only one had played before ! Enough said
Thankfully they then started 150 yards away from the hole then left on the 9 th - Ranger would not allow us to play through !! Why ??
Then we came up against a 5 ball - ranger again powerless - Shame as problems easily solved
Great course
This was a fun course. Great staff. Great hot dog at the turn.
Hibiscus golf course
Me and my buddy Mike thoroughly enjoyed golfing at Hibiscus golf course. Looking forward to the next time we play it..
I was assaulted and harrassed
I was assaulted and harassed by a starter or cart course worker and completely embarrassed in front of my wife.
As I was ready to hit shot 3 from 120 yards onto the par 5 10th hole a person named Al drove up in his cart stated that we must play faster.
I backed off my stance and stated "no problem, and if we have to skip a hole for you and Hibiscus we will." The person repeated "hit the ball".
I went to set up again and as I was getting ready to hit the person again interrupted my golf set up process and said "hit the ball, we have strict rules for place of play."
I said no problem and went into my set up routine again. Before I could swing he said "hit the ball" louder.
I backed off again and went to my cart to the cart's GPS to see how far behind we were. There was no indicator. I told the person how much I respect pace of play and was aware that we were first out at 7:32am. I asked where on the screen there is any indicator of being ahead or behind. He said "The indicator won't come on until you are 15 minutes behind. Hit the ball there is a twosome on the green up there".
That twosome happened to be 2 young golfers who "hit the par 5 green in 2". But I didn't say anything except "I am trying, please stay still or move away so I can reset and take my shot".
He once again aggressively stated "hit the ball". I set up and hit, very shaken by this.
When I went into the clubhouse at 11:15am after completing the round, my wife and I asked the desk "if we were first off at 7:32am and finished at this time, were we were behind or cause anyone behind us to be delayed?". The three (3) wonderful desk helpers stated "no you are well ahead of the 4 hour and 20 minute goal for the round to be played". So I guess that would have been 11:52am.
Since I was assaulted, harassed and embarrassed by this person and in front of my wife no less, I asked for the manager. They politely advised me that he was not in on this Sunday and gave me his card. I immediatley called the number and left a voice mail for Mike Smuniewski with basically the same story as written here and asked for an immediate call back.
Since no one called back, I waited until 4:30pm and researched who owns Hibiscus. I was able to contact a very understanding and caring person that works for the Company that owns Hibiscuss, Brian, who is, thankfully and appropriately, handling this TERRIBLE situation according to a golfer such as I, a golfer with integrity and care for all fellow golfers, my simple request for an apology, without a "BUT" from this employee.
