Hidden Gem

Great little course and a great course layout. I’ve never had trouble getting a tee time or with pace of play.

Good greens. Fairways need work.

Agave has some challenging holes where you can get into trouble in the desert. Fairways are generally okay with some dry and bare spots. Greens are challenging to read but are in good shape. Fun course to play.

Good Value, Friendly Staff

Agave is a easy.play.course with great views of the Verde Valley and surrounding area. The staff here are friendly and they continue to make improvements to the facility. We love playing here.

Getting better ‘n better

Fairways have filled in nicely. Some blight on the greens as well as intruding, unwanted grasses, but probably less than 10%. Tee boxes are hit and miss as far as being level. Pace of play was acceptable as the course was busy. Pro shop folks are pleasant and worked to make the experience good. Decent value given time of year (spring break) and in relation to Sedona-priced courses. I’ll be back.

Lovely course. But don’t go on a Saturday

Course was nice. The staff was friendly. The food was good. There was a scramble being played apparently members play every Saturday. The pace of play took me 5 1/2 hours to play a round following the last team of the member tourney and I played as a single. The pro shop didn’t warn me about the pace of play until after I had already paid. I booked online but half to pay ant the course. overall I enjoyed playing the course. I just didn’t enjoy the pace of play. my home course if there’s a scramble or a tournament, everyone rides in carts to speed it up. These guys were walking. Some in their group would ride the others would walk, and they were not the best golfers. Lol I would play again just not on a Saturday. The course was overall was in really good shape for this time of year.

Narrow tee shots

This short course presents the golfer about 30 yard wide landing areas for your tee shot to land or it ends up in desert scrub. But fairway grass and greens OK if you can find them.

Fair to poor

On-line photos are misleading. The greens were in great condition but getting there is a challenge due to the very poor condition of the fairways. The photos are photo-shopped to be misleading.

Fun course and great value.

My buddies and I are casual golfers. We can have fun on a really nice course or just an average course. The actual conditions of the course are just average. But the surroundings are beautiful. You’ve got views in every direction. There are homes on the course like a lot of courses, but it doesn’t crowd into your play hardly at all. The greens were in good condition. Honestly, the fairways were a little rough, but still a fantastic course for the value. We played on a hot summer day and it was significantly cooler than the Phoenix area. We tried to play up in the pine but so many of those courses are private now. Definitely a great value and we will definitely play there again.

Nice public course

For the amount charge, the course was decent. Some challenging holes, not the best condition but understand that’s a public course. It was fine. The wind kicked up. Course can’t do anything about that but well worth the value.

Huge Improvements!

Was greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. They have made vast improvements on this course and have many more planned. Still had some muddy spots but far less than in the past. It will be great to see this place continue to improve.

Suggestion..... we were well within the pace of play with a foursome. The markers showed our pace over 15 minutes ahead of schedule even letting some couples play through. An impatient local had to complain to staff about our pace anyway. It would be good not to chastise players when they are told to play faster on the word of some impatient bigshot. We were entertaining a guest visiting from Africa. It sets a bad tone for which course we may play in the future. I am also a local and was asked to give you guys another chance. This kinda put a negative tone on our experience.

Easy course, plenty of great views and well maintained for a public course. Would absolutely play here again if I’m back in the area.
