Apache Wells Country Club
About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

The gentleman behind the counter was extremely friendly and welcomed me as a PGA Member. I did not receive a discount due to the fact I booked the time through GolfNow. His hands were tied.
The course is in very good condition right now. Looked like they punched the greens a few weeks earlier but they putted smooth and had some pace to them.
I played with some very friendly folks one of whom was a Paragolfer. He had a cart setup for a challenged player. He did very well. Overall, I liked the course and will go back.
Great Day, Great Course
Tee-off time at 610AM, teed off at 605AM. The fairways are in great shape, with no bald spots and green grass all up and down the fairway. The greens had been seeded, so they were a bit bumpy and slow. But in a week or two, they will be great.
Staff is wonderful; the new Head Pro at the course will do well, very personable, and the shop looked great, lots of new stuff to buy.
I'll be back.
Overall, the course is in good condition. The only issue we had was with putting. Greens were punched in the recent past (2 weeks ago?) and were still pretty bumpy. A number of putts rolled off the intended line, especially as the ball started to slow nearing the hole. Hopefully, they will be better in another week. The fairways were very nice for the time of year. There were no dirt spots like at many other courses due to lack of water. Pace of play was very fast which is nice on a very hot day.
fairways in good shape greens recovering from aeiration
Awesome course and staff
Greens punched a week ago and need time, balance of the course is green and great shape.
Good value
I got a good rate through tee off app and I thought the course was in great condition compared to other courses this time of year. I gone to Arizona grand a couple days before I played at Apache Wells and paid about the same rate and absolutely no comparison Apache Wells far exceeded Arizona grand probably because of the heat my friend and I were the only people on the course pretty much so the pace of play was great
APACHE WELLS - Good value well maintained
This course is consistently in good condition.
It has some challenging holes (several par 4 holes and 1 par 3 hole.)
Fairways are mostly wide and in the summer the greens put true but on the slow side.
Check in Staff is excellent. Carts are in good shape. Did not try the driving range or the putting green.
New tee boxes
A few improvements since last time, great condition, fun course.
Course was Aerated
If you berate 35% of the course, you should tell the public or offer reduced rates. Bait and switch is illegal.
Course Maintenance
Played on 6/16. First it was a hot and humid morning and the gentleman in the pro shop told us the course was undergoing maintenance. This meant the tee boxes and fairways were getting plugged. Bummer because the machines were everywhere making it difficult to really play. The staff is always very nice! Not very many golfers out. This course is usually the nicest around east Mesa and they keep it neat and clean. Unfortunately it was the day we played for the maintenance, not anyone’s fault. Will gladly play when less summer heat!
Improving
Played 6/12, not paired. Course not busy which makes it easier to play a level round with no waiting or pushing, completed round in 3 hours. They are working on the course, planting new plants, tweaking irrigation, trimming, etc. the grass is slowly returning and the greens are recovering. First time seeing a worker repairing divots on the greens using a repair tool! Fairway and tee box divots are filled in as well. This course has a great staff and whoever is in charge of managing the care of the course really knows what they are doing!
Improving course conditions
Played 6/1, paired with a single player( he was a nice young man). Since our last round the grass is starting to return after winter to summer transition has begun. This track is not difficult but enough challenge is present. They keep the surroundings clean and neat, water in the ball washers is a plus. There are two small coolers on the carts and you can get ice. The practice areas are nice. We still like this course because it’s close, always in good to excellent condition, and the staff is wonderful to deal with!
