Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Las Sendas Golf Club's course, opened in 1995 and among the toughest U.S. courses. Two Zagat surveys have ranked it among the top 50 U.S. golf courses.

Las Sendas Golf Club offers a desert course demanding top play as it takes golfers through the Usery Mountains, with a vista of Phoenix as the tradeoff for managing rough land close to 1,800 feet above the desert. Jones didn't create a course with whimsical decorations like railroad ties, and he didn't build targets. The golf course is for those who strategize, mapping the way from tee to green.

After a round at Las Sendas Golf Club, head to Las Sendas Grille, for the full bar, including wines from California, Australia and Europe, as well as four tap beers and domestic and imported bottles.

Very hard course

Very hard course for the average golfer. A lot of fairways were in pretty tough condition. Some greens as well. I get it it’s been a hot summer but played other courses in the valley for less money in better condition

Great Time Golfing With a View

Starting with a mid-to-late morning tee time made for some warm temperatures later in our round. That being said, it was a very nice layout and enjoyed the views of downtown Phoenix as well as all the surrounding area while playing at Las Sendas. I'd recommend playing the course if you haven't already and get the chance, you won't regret it.

No much room for mistake.

Course view and amenities is amazing. First time playing here but course doesn’t have much of forgiveness. So where you miss and how you layout your next shoot plays a big part or your score. Very hilly. Don’t be afraid to lay out. Overall I’ll definitely recommend and play this course before it goes private. It’s worth the money.

Improvements Needed

For the price to play, expectations were not met. Carts lack GPS and aren’t very smooth. The cart paths were cracked and muddy. Some tees not clearly marked. Many fairways were in bad shape. Greens not consistent, divots not repaired and we’re very sandy. Bunkers were hard or flooded or in bad shape. No waters provided and it also lacked timely beverage cart service. Overall, seemed like a course that is cutting costs a lot yet expecting world class green fees. It wasn’t great. Hole 18 is beautiful though.

Needs time to recover from heat wave this summer

Course is a great layout with tees to keep everyone challenged but this time the fairways were under repair on almost all holes. The greens were thin and rougher than usual, getting a ball to roll true was unlikely all day. Im still excited to play it again but going to wait a month for it to recover further.

Hot AZ

Between the cpirse layout and the 100 degree temperature, I was about done in. Cold wet towels at Hole 14 pulled me through.

Las Sendas

Great layout & views. It's just before closing for over seeding so not in the best condition.

Local Player

I live at Las Sendas, but not a member. The course is a good value for the public. Right now, the course is NOT in the best condition. Several of the fairways are very chewed up. Not sure if the heat got to them or if it was something else. There are several fairways that have large dirt patches on them. This is not usually the case. Still, it is one of the nicer courses around, and it's generally pretty challenging from the tips. I would still suggest it for a round of golf!!

Great course, has had better days

This is one of the best courses in Phoenix, or at least used to be. Great views, tough holes, and a true desert course. However, the conditions are not what I’m used to here. The fairways are the worst I’ve ever seen them. Many times while in the middle of the fairway I ended up on a large dirt patch. The greens were better than the fairways, but not by much. I hope they fix the issue, because playing here was not worth what was charged this time.

Course conditions

Overall Conditions of the course were not great and with green fees at $80 per person it will be hard to recommend this time of year. I’m sure the weather conditions have made it to keep this course in top tier conditions.
