The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Summer comes early

The very hot spring we've had has taken a toll on the grass. Great course, great staff, hope they can keep the condition up to their great standard. Slow play because of tricky, Pete Dye design.

Challenge for a duffer

The back nine is more challenging than the front. There are lots of rolling hills in the fairways. Most greens are elevated making a bit more difficult for a person who has trouble walking up inclines. Course was in good shape. The beverage cart was much appreciated on a warm day pushing 100 degrees and the young lady (Rena?) was so pleasant and friendly. I’d definitely recommend you giving it a try.

Blind

Although this course was challenging and in good condition there was no gps which was challenging when there were no hole layouts on the cards or at the holes. Especially for a first time playing

Not worth the money

Better courses for better value. Spend the extra money to play one of the better Area courses. The layout is good. Greens were ok on speed and condition, but better courses in area that are of same cost or slightly more are better. They even charged 17$ for range balls where the more expensive courses provide. Golf carts are old gas cart not GPS which you get with other courses.

What potential not fulfilled

This golf course could be something special. One of the more unique layouts in the Phoenix Valley.

It just appears as the standard for the club is to not care at all. Both outside service staff were on their phones no acknowledgement whatsoever. Shop staff didn't appear to want to be there.

Fairways were nice and the greens are amazing, but the rest of the course has zero investment into it which is amazing considering the opportunity with the popularity in golf.

For the money, I guess it is what it is but I could see under the right circumstances paying 2 or 3x would not be unreasonable if it was in amazing shape and the staff made you feel like you needed to be there.

I loved this course, from the course conditions to the course layout it was a fun and different. Definitely a harder course to play. Especially from like 80-50 yard in. I would totally go back and play again.

Desert Botanical Beauty

First, the course is amazing and difficult. Lots of hills, sand and water. Super well maintained. Second, you dealt like you were in a desert oasis. Just about every kind of desert plant adorned the course. We even ran into a family of Javelinas. There was about 20 of them just off the green. When we drove our cart by them they all scattered without incident. It was an amazing round of golf.

Undulation

This golf course was one of the most unique courses I played in the valley area. It was challenging in some ways, but for forgiving in others, the green undulation and the pot bunkers that surround the greens make this course extremely rewarding when you hit great shots, vice versa if you miss just a little bit off the green you might be in a 10 foot tiny pot bunker. It’s just an amazing design if the greens were rolling anymore than what they were, the course would’ve been very hard. Super fair price, super fair greens really great staff, fun day.!!!

Good design, course dry

The course design is good but it was drying out the day we played. Parts of the fairways were dry and the greens were somewhat dry in areas. Apparently, the maintenance staff has not responded to the streak of hot weather in March.
