Dunes / Vista nines
The course has 27 holes; I played the Dunes & Vista nines. They were very different: The Dunes had a lot of mounds, bumps, hollows & elevation changes. The Vistas were flatter & had less challenge due to uneven stances and side hill lies. A couple holes (#17 & #18) were uninspiring-like they just squeezed them into the space left.
The conditions were ok overall, fairly slow greens but consistent. The course was generally good, but a little rough around the edges. The clubhouse seemed run down.
I’d go back again- overall good layout.
Glen Lakes-Golf review
Guys, I played this track, recently, to get to the point, drastic price increase over the last 12 months, it is a $40-45 dollar course, charging $65-80 dollars.
The greens are spare with desirable grass, “weeds”, visible, sand traps, full of weeds, tee boxes spotty with grass.
* Needs much work, rehabilitation, to get back to playable conditions. I’m amazed they’re getting the price for a round of Golf!
* Sprinkler system leakage everywhere!
Much better shape after all the rain
The course is playing much better now after the rain. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are all doing well. The greens are much better than they were a couple weeks ago. I played after 3:00 and the rate was well worth it. Not sure I would pay the morning rate during peak season, it's a bit too high.
Looking Good
The course is shaping up. The greens are in good shape, but not great. Fairways are in great shape when you hit them. Overall, the course is worth the afternoon rates, not what they ask for in the morning.
Play Here Again
I played this course the day before and really enjoyed it so I played it again the next day early morning round with my son-in-law and grandson because the girls were hanging out at the beach so they gave us a day at although I’m not an early morning golfer we had a 7:21 am tee time. The course was in really good shape. The mowing crew was out cleaning the greens off prior to us all so we had a nice surface to although the course has gotten a lot of rain over the next few days prior to us playing. There was only just a couple of holes that were cart path only so we enjoyed our round.
PLAY HERE
This course is definitely a hidden gem- I had some time to play but weather at the beach has been raining- but today was a small break in the weather so I searched for a course not near the beach area but not far from where I was staying. I found this location on GolfNow. Had good reviews and was far enough if it rained at the beach it would miss me. The proshop staff was super efficient and got me check in quickly, the starter was ready as soon as I got to the carts to give me the heads up on the course. It’s been raining here this week is they had a few holes that were CP only. Not to bad though, I played a good round and fast pace. Shot 77 (+5) not to bad for never laying eyes on this course before. Greens were extremely slow, due to rain they hadn’t been able to mow them yet. All in all it was a great course and will definitely play it again.
Perfect course for the pace of play
i’d love to come back and play this course again when i’m down here. I moved pretty quickly, folks let me play thru, and the weather cooperated with me long enough to complete my round. The only issues was the cart paths and the greens in spots probably needed attention but it was perfect for a 80’s-(sometimes higher :)) golfer such as myself
Slow Greens, Excellent Track
For the money it's well worth what they charge. Only drawback is that recently this area has recently an enormous amount of rainfall, so the greenskeepers are protecting the greens by allowing more growth than normal. Expect true greens that are snail pace slow.
Greens are recently punched
The course was in great shape despite the greens being recently punched. The greens were a bit bouncy but played well. The fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. The price was reduced due to the conditions of the greens but it didn't impact playability.
Good Shape, play in the afternoon for a better rate
One of my favorite courses. I enjoy the links style. Tee boxes, fairways and bunkers are great shape. Greens were high and lumpy with some small weeds around the perimeter causing them to be slow and not roll true. I feel the morning rate is high. The twilight rate is more suitable to the true value of the course. I do recommend it, and I will play there again soon.
Aeration
The greens were punched and it really threw off my game.
Full Price for Sanded Greens and Alternate 18 holes
Putting on damp sanded greens on the Dunes course: not fun. Also, wooly...slow. Some of the holes cart-path only, likely from rain. Back nine was diverted to the Lakes course. White tees were just behind the ladies'. Played way too short. Greens were sandy, bumpy (from recent aeration?) and just not nice.
Paying a premium full price for sub-standard conditions and short layout = not a good value. C'mon guys, Glenlakes used to be the nicest layout around < $100. Now it is just <$100. Sad.
