About
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design.
The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.
Soldiers Creek Golf Club is owned by the Norman Woerner family. Norman is a member of the Woerner Turf family of sod producers. Woerner Turf is a world-wide leader in turf production. The company provides turf for many golf courses ranging from Augusta National to new courses in Hong Kong. They also supply the turf for the NFL Super Bowl and the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Southern Turf Nurseries provided the Tif Eagle for Soldiers Creek Golf Club. This turf grass is considered by many to be the best-of-the-best turf for southern golf course greens. The fairways and roughs are Tif 419, a dense-growing emerald-colored grass that's perfect for plush fairways.The greens feature Tif Eagle, the newest and best-of-the-best southern turf grass for golf course greens. An increasingly popular choice for new golf courses and redesigns, this turf permits a closer cut, thus allowing for smoother, faster greens.
Located only several miles from Alabama's sun-kissed Gulf Coast, this new 18 hole championship course is part of the Woerner Preserve Resort. DIRECTIONS: From I-10, take exit 44 (Gulf Shores Pkwy/Hwy 59 South). Travel south on Hwy 59 for approx. 18 miles. Turn left onto Hwy 98 (at light in Foley). Travel approx. 10 miles to Co. Rd 95. Turn right and go 1 ½ mile. Course is on the left.

Group of 6
We caught up to a group of 6 on the 10th hole. They saw us waiting on them and never asked us to play through. No starter or marshall on the course. Made for a hot slow back 9.
Vacation 2026
Play at least once a year while visiting Perdido. Staff extra friendly. While I realize that everything costs more these days, I felt that they're regular green fee was a bit expensive for me. Fairways were a bit high and greens a bit slow. Tropical storm Bertha had just made its way through the Gulf coast, so maintenance might have been a day or two behind. All in all, I don't mind the drive from the Key once each year.
The layout was good and a challenge!
Overall this course fit our trip perfect.. we played in 3hrs and were back at the beach before noon. Course conditions a little rough but we enjoyed the layout.
Looking better, but....
Certainly the greens are much better than a year ago. Fairways generally in good shape, though a few are starting to burn up. This will become more evident later in the summer.
The bunkers are hard as rocks!
The drinking water provided on the course (a must on these 100+ degree days) was warm and stale.
Soldier Creek awful experience
Booked a tee time on golf now for 7/5 at 7:40 am. Showed up at the course at 7 am and they would not honor the golf now reservation even after showing them the confirmation. Lost my convenience booking fee from golf now as well. The man said he has no way to check the golf now bookings. Since he already took tee times with paper and pencil he turned us away, no apology or anything.

Fairways and greens are in great shape. Traps are in good shape. Course is in excellent shape overall.

The course is absolutely amazing. Fairways are plush. Greens are true. It don’t get any better I assure you

Played this course with family for the last 6 vacation trips. Greens have improved immensely. Newer, nicer golf carts. Fairways are in great shape. The dead grass just needs to be removed once mowed. Tee boxes are rough but that will come with time. Greens rolled true and were a little slow but not an issue. Congrats to the new owners as your efforts are being realized. We’ll be back to Soldiers come next year.
What Could've Been
First the Good...
The layout is pretty decent and the staff is friendly...That's It
The Bad...
No Amenities to speak of. The carts (ours anway) have seen better days. General Maintenance needed all around.
Lots of crabgrass throughout the course...even the greens.
The Ugly...
Gnats!!!! If you don't have some kind of repellent your gonna have a bad day! Seriously!!!
Groupings...only 2 somes and 6 somes is all we seen. Make 4 somes for better flow. Most think 2 are faster. They're not if you're waiting 10 minutes between every shot!
It's in a RV Park. If you don't expect much you won't be disappointed.
Nice layout, course in rough shape
Fun little course, but hard to get over conditions. I think the main fairway grass is "Alabama Crabgrass". Greens were hard and bumpy, yet slow. On the plus side, no need to fix ball marks since even a towering wedge did not make a dent. Hard to tell where green ended and fringe began, same with fairways and rough.
Soldier Creek experience
I really enjoyed the course. The course was in good shape. I liked that the course has character. With the birds singing, the animals around and the trees lining the fairways you feel like you are in nature not just in a subdivision.
