Delaware Springs Golf Course
About
Named after the springs that snake through the layout, Delaware Springs Golf Course is a scenic links-style track that is one of the better values in Texas golf. The low prices and friendly service, combined with a picturesque and challenging golf course, make this a Hill Country favorite.
Architects Dave Axland and Dan Proctor built a natural-looking course that fits the terrain perfectly. The course is nestled into the rolling hills and oak trees along the Highland Lakes, playing 6,891 yards from the tips. During your round you’ll encounter lush fairways frequently loaded with bunkers, large greens that slope severely, and numerous bump and run shots. The designers added a few original touches, such as the descriptive Scottish names for each hole (the 18th is called "Hame" for the home hole).
Another interesting design twist involved placing the signature hole as the opener. Playing 504 yards to a par 5, no. 1 is best attacked with an iron into the left side of a sloping, tree-lined fairway. The creek cuts into the landing area, making it a testy tee shot. The second shot must bend around the dogleg to the left and over the creek, and the approach is into the green shaded by large trees on the right.

Never see one on course Photo submitted by mhughesgolf on 06/13/2015
Course is always in great condition. Staff friendly as always
JH Copeland
forced a fivesome
starter forced a threesome and two singles into a fivesome. Result was a five hour round.
Canceled My Tee time
I was scheduled to play an early tee time. The course had gotten some rain the day before. It’s about two hours for me to get to the golf course and I was meeting a partner. My partner got there first and called me and said the course was closed. They said that they had sent out a notification which they had 30 minutes before my tee time. Obviously we didn’t see this because we were driving. If you have golfers scheduled and you decide to close the whole course, I would think you should give them a call. Extremely thoughtless. We easily got on a nearby course of higher quality. The staff was rude about it as well. We subsequently went back and played in the afternoon, and the staff wasn’t apologetic offered no discount or anything. Avoid.
Delaware Springs
The pace of play was horrible. The starter started our 2some about 10 minutes early. Not sure why but this put us right behind a group of 5 elderly men (obviously members) that hit the ball about 150 yards at a time. They looked like they were just wandering around sometimes often in the brush urinating. We had another group behind us that hit in to us. When I asked the short guy who thought he was Greg Norman in the group of 5 if we could skip to the hole in front of them he got rude and said no. We talked to the Marshall but obviously they know these guys. It’s a retirement community. Plenty of other nice courses out there.
One of the around
This course is my home course but I think it is one of the best courses in the greater Austin area. The staff gives you that small town hospitality. It is well maintained and requires you to hit an array of clubs. The pace can get a little backed up just because like everyone nowadays they do 8 minute spreads.
Memorial Day Golf
Course is always in great shape, staff friendly and very welcoming. My only concern is charging for a rider in the cart. Seems a bit extra to me personally
Memorial Weekend
The course was in great shape. No issues. For a holiday weekend, we finished in 4.5 hours.
Home away from home
With the ridiculous price increases at courses like Avery, Teravista, etc., I am having to play further and further outside of town. Delaware Springs is a great course, wide open, in decent condition. This Sunday was great, I got out by myself and had a blast. Wish there were a few more options for water on the course, but oh well.
Great Course For A Great Price
Was super impressed with the course conditions especially after all the rain we have had lately. Yes there are some areas that are under construction but it didn’t really bother us. The Marshall’s presence was pretty consistent but not overbearing which was appreciated especially considering that some of the holes were cart path only so there was some slower pace at those particular holes. Overall great course and great staff and will definitely be returning.
Cart Path Only
After our area received two days of much needed rain, I totally understand implementing "cart path only", but please space out your tee times. Not doing so, significantly impacts pace of play. The players I was teamed up with bailed after 12 holes (3hrs and 55 minutes) leaving me essentially stranded with longer wait times between holes/shots. I bailed after 14 which was 4hours 44 minutes from my tee time. Please use some common sense or AI !!
I love this course and the staff, but the management at times leaves much to be desired.
Slow
Had to end my round early because of the slew pace of play. They pack tee times 8 mins apart even on cart path only days. And let people play six to a group. Or bring their kids for a picnic. Avoid.
Pace of play was horrendous
It’s a nice course and it was fun but the pace of play was so slow that it ruined the round. Took an hour to to play 3 holes. The Marshall came by 3 times on the front 9 and didn’t say anything until after we passed the slow groups on the turn after 4 holes the Marshall came to us and said we had to hurry up because they’re was no one for 2 holes in front of us?? There wasn’t anyone waiting on us or even on the same hole we were on waiting? Lol idc it’s just weird that’s when they decide to say something. Not the 3 hours it took to play 9 holes. A group of 3 of us played the back 9 in an hour and 10 minutes but we were the ones that got called out for being slow
Great course conditions!
After some recent Central Texas rain, the course was the greenest that I’ve ever seen. If it weren’t for the 100% humidity it would have been perfect!
Pace Needs to be Addressed
Love Delaware Springs and have been making a 45 minute drive to play it for at least a decade, but the pace of play has become atrocious. The last two rounds I've played there have each been 5+ hours and marshalls do not care. Stacking 8 minute tee times doesn't help. I've also walked off the course in the last 12 months after 9 holes because of how slow it is there.
Will probably play here a lot less moving forward, which sucks, because the course is great and is in phenomenal shape. But standing on every tee box for 5-10 minutes isn't my idea of a good time. The staff desperately needs to address the issue.
