About
Mansfield National Golf Club's tees range from 5,263 to 6,850 yards and the course plays to a par 72. The large, undulating greens make for inviting targets. The fairways are lined by every type of tree imaginable, with bunkers looming to suck in tee shots. Scores can add up on holes 11 and 16, with the lake coming into play, but water comes into play on only four holes total. The best hole is no. 5, considered one of the toughest par 3s in north Texas. It plays a very 3-wood-like 233 yards into a tough green that's hard to hold with the wind at your back. Located just south of Arlington Mansfield National also offers FootGolf, a combination of soccer and golf.

They punched the greens and they were unplayable.
Should not pay full price for horrible greens.

Decent Conditions, Forgettable Layout
Course Conditions & Greens
The overall condition of Mansfield National was actually quite good, with one glaring exception: several of the tee boxes were incredibly sandy and practically felt like you were teeing up in a bunker. The greens were very well maintained, but they played with some genuinely bizarre physics. Despite the visible slopes and the quick speed, the putts had absolutely no break to them. It made for a very interesting round, to say the least, trying to navigate greens that completely defied their own topography.
Layout & Course Design
While the greens fee is perfectly acceptable for the physical condition of the grounds, the architectural layout is severely lacking. The course design is boring, uninspiring, and completely unmemorable. The vast majority of the holes are just straight and lack any strategic character. With the sole exception of the Par 3 5th hole, which actually stood out, I honestly could not tell you what any of the other holes looked like.
Final Thoughts
The value aligns well enough with the maintenance, but the layout just does not deliver an engaging round of golf. I certainly would not go out of my way or take a long drive to play here again unless I managed to snag a remarkably good deal.

Underrated
Mansfield continues to impress as a muni. Conditions were pretty great, with the few greens that need work being tended to.

Decent for what it is
Overall not bad. But, greens are really slow and bumpy but rest of conditions are decent. Par 3 tee boxes are in tough shape but just small things there.
Fun track overall but back 9 is a little quirky.

A regular in my rotation.
Punched the greens at the beginning of June. When we played they were sanded heavily but starting to come through nicely. Made for a difficult round on the greens. Fairways and tee boxes were in fantastic shape considering recent heavy rain. The course conditions are always’ managed well. Only complaint is pace of play. Whether they overbook or just don’t care about pace. On the weekends expect an all day outing. It can easily creep up on the 5.5/6hr mark.

Beautiful course, pace of play needs help
I played here probably 3 times a month. Love the course. However there is always a pace of play problem. The round took me 5 1/2 hours yesterday. At one point we were backed up 3 tee times deep. I’m not the type of person to complain, but I’m hoping they improve this and make it the perfect south DFW course
