Worn course
Course is worn. Not the award winning course of 2008. Great place for a munie, but some things needed attention, starting with the sinks in the bathroom and overall attentiveness to detail. Pro shop cluttered with old equipment. Needs a general manager not stuck in 1992, at the risk of being hyperbolic. Wonderful staff, great people, fast pace of play, but greens were peppered and bouncy on all holes due to different grass seedings. Lastly, the food in the clubhouse was excellent but needs an update the same way my cart had cigar holes burned into the seat.
Not a fan!
I play all around DFW and this is one of my least favorite courses. The course layout can be confusing although the overall play of the course is manageable. Tea boxes were in atrocious condition for the most part, while fairways and greens were decent.
Pizza place is typically horrible however, on this day, there were no issues besides the grew behind us constantly hitting into us, even though we play extremely fast.
Best feature of this course is the practiced pitching and putting area.
Slow pace
The pace of play was slower than expected, partly due to some inexperienced players. Assigning a marshal to monitor and assist with pace management would likely enhance overall course flow.
Slow Play
Coarse was in good shape. Crazy slow play. Waiting on most shots and every tee box..
Good golf course just unfriendly worker
As a relatively cheap public course this golf course attracts beginner golfers like myself and others. This was my second time playing here and my first time went smoothly. This second time did not. Checking into the tee time you could tell the pro shop worker was not in the best of moods which is totally fine because we all have those days. He wasn’t rude but wasn’t giving us a positive feedback. As we left and went to tee off, driving to the first hole the pro shop worker was outside and decide to yell at as from the parking lot as we are on the cart path going to the first tee. I have not been golfing very long and it was my friend’s first time ever. We did not know you were not allowed to play with only 1 set of clubs as we were going to share mine. The pro shop worker yelled at us telling us we needed to rent or bring our own clubs. I said it was our first time together and he said he will let it slide but to not come back again unless we have 2 sets. This entire interaction was rude, embarrassing and unnecessary. If he had something to say he should’ve came to us and discussed it rather than yelling at us from 25+ feet away with many other golfers teeing off, putting, and waiting in line nearby. The point of having 2 sets he said was to not slow the pace of play down which i agree, but the next person to tee did not end up doing so til we were almost 4 holes infront of him and he did not play all 18 like we did. As my friend went back inside to buy a glove the pro shop worker was nice to him. As I walked in to help my fiends choose you could definitely see the vibes were uncomfortable. As we played I observed many other people were sharing clubs. I asked these two teens if the were told anything and they denied. Sad thing is I do like the course and the other workers around but unfortunately this one interaction really made the whole experience unpleasant. Tee time was at 2:22 on Sunday the 7th if the course decides to look into this.
Busy course with good layout
The course is in good shape with good cvoerage on the tees, fairways & greens. Greens are rolling well but beware the different levels on the greens - you need to be on the same level or below the hole if you want to have an easier putt. Pace of play was an issue with some beginner golfers in the group in front carving the ball all over the place. The real issue was that they were sharing clubs so it took them a while to play their shots but they did let us through & pace of play increased until we ran into the next group struggling to get the ball on the fairways. I guess that's what you expect on a busy course like this. Despite this it was a good course to play with some interesting holes to challenge golfers of all abiliities.
