Tangle Ridge Golf Club's location near Joe Pool Lake is favorable because of the elevation changes that spice up this well maintained public course. The course offers some outstanding holes, highlighted by impressive bentgrass greens that putt true. In addition to the elevation changes, Jeff Brauer's design features generous fairways lined by thick brush and huge trees. Two holes grab your attention on the front side. The opener goes 469 yards and might be the most difficult on the golf course. While there aren't too many hazards, bunkers protect the fairway and green, and the thick rough lining the fairway makes it a difficult long approach if you miss the smooth stuff off the tee. Tangle Ridge Golf Club's eighth hole is considered the signature: a 575-yarder that rolls downhill off the tee to a creek that cuts the fairway at 300 yards out. The approach on no. 8 must carry the creek to an elevated green protected by two massive mounds.

Too darn slow!
Ridiculous that it was almost a 5 hour round, and it was caused by the 4 some 2 groups in front of us. Teed off at 1135, walked off 18 at 430. Love the course, and this has happened before. Doesn’t do any good to let the pro shop know, because they don’t do jacksh*t Other than that no complaints. But it really puts a damper the day when you’re having to wait on EVERY SHOT! Can’t get into any kind of rhythm. PROPER POSITION ON THE COURSE IS DIRECTLY BEHIND THE GROUP IN FRONT OF YOU,
NOT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE GROUP BEHIND YOU!

This course was in great shape, especially for late December. The greens were a little fuzzy but still rolled true.
Great way to end the Christmas Week End
Played with my son who lives out of town and paired with a Dad & His son. We didn't get to finish 18 holes due to sunset fast approaching and carts had to be turned in by 5:15. Fairways & Tee boxes were very dry, but the ball ran a long way down the fairways. My son hit 2 drives over 300 yards. Greens were green but slow or bumpy. Weather is likely the culprit. We love playing Tangle Ridge & will always play there when my son is in town!
The greens!!! What is going on?!?!?
I love the layout of this course and it’s “generally” well maintained. But I really have a problem with their greens. It seems like at some point they either partially seeded various types of grass on the greens and they now have large patches of different grasses all over most greens. It seems to get worse when the POA starts. That coupled with cutting holes literally NEXT to older cut holes is absurd.
Most folks won’t mind but the greens roll like they have a multiple personality disorder. The patches literally grip and pull the ball and the dormant Bermuda areas roll like linoleum. It’s been months since. I played Tangle Ridge because the greens have been this way all year. I was hoping the summer months burned it out but I was wrong.
Also… why are the surrounds and approaches on so many greens SOGGY. Not “wet,” but soggy when we haven’t had any rain.
Shame… as the rest of the course is pretty decent.
Always fun
This course is a standard on my rotation list. One of my top favs in the area. Always in good shape, and has some interesting holes. Not super hard, but you still need to make great shots to score well.

Played here a couple times over the past few weeks, and it's becoming a favorite of mine.
Good course
They always move people around end up playing. Single. If people want earlier times get a earlier time not right leaves a golfer not able to play with others
Most enjoyable golf course around
The staff is top tear. The course is a fun challenge. The value is unbeatable.
