Tangle Ridge Golf Club's location near Joe Pool Lake is favorable because of the elevation changes that spice up this well maintained public course. The course offers some outstanding holes, highlighted by impressive bentgrass greens that putt true. In addition to the elevation changes, Jeff Brauer's design features generous fairways lined by thick brush and huge trees. Two holes grab your attention on the front side. The opener goes 469 yards and might be the most difficult on the golf course. While there aren't too many hazards, bunkers protect the fairway and green, and the thick rough lining the fairway makes it a difficult long approach if you miss the smooth stuff off the tee. Tangle Ridge Golf Club's eighth hole is considered the signature: a 575-yarder that rolls downhill off the tee to a creek that cuts the fairway at 300 yards out. The approach on no. 8 must carry the creek to an elevated green protected by two massive mounds.

Tangle Ridge
ive been looking for another course to the rotation. I should keep this to myself, but its definitely worth playing and challenging. Shot placement and club selection being the key.
One of my favorites…
overall always a good experience here. Course is well maintained, challenging but not highly difficult, with character and good design. Greens are back in really good shape again.
Great course
Could not have asked for a better first experience in Texas. Great conditions, friendly people. Walked away with a laundry list of course options and doesn’t hurt that I played well and enjoyed the staff, beverage attendant was sweet. Definitely recommend this. Right amount of challenge with room for the casual player as well.
A wonderful test
Always good times when playing Tangle Ridge . One of my favorites in the metro plex .. Ever in the area it’s a MUST
A local muni Gem
Definitely one of the courses in my heavy rotation in the area as a local municipal gem. Consistent course conditions and decent pace of play are staples of the experience at Tangle Ridge. The course has a fun and moderately challenging layout with several scenic views. Overall, a solid play and value.
Great course
Tangleridge is one of the best layouts in DFW. I read previous reviews on how bad the greens were, but we found them in very good shape, though a bit slow which wasn't a big issue. The rest of the course was in very good shape, a few bare spots but that was the exception. Play was very slow, too many groups searching for balls too long, hitting bad shot after bad shot, etc. I have no issue with beginner golfers that don't always hit it great each time, just play faster as all of us hit some bad shots.
For anyone looking for a hill country feel at a DFW course, play here and you won't be disappointed.
