About

Neshanic Valley Golf Course is a 27-hole layout that sprawls across 420 acres of rolling farmland. It is the flagship course of the five-course Somerset County Park Commission system. The design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry crafted the layout, which is divided into three nines called the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow. The nines can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Lake/Ridge Course, as the name would imply, starts out with a few water holes. In addition to the lakes on the front nine, environmentally sensitive wetland areas come into play throughout. The fairways and greens are bordered by ample fescue and the putting surfaces are closely guarded by strategically placed bunkers. Neshanic Valley also offers a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course, which is great for beginners.

Worth it

Despite really strong wind conditions, this course was in beautiful shape adjusting for the greens being aerated earlier in the week. Would definitely play there again, challenging course, plays long. Two thumbs up.

Make the drive

We drove about 1.5 hours to finally make it here, it was well worth it. Staff all around was friendly and pleasant to speak with. Course conditions were great and the greens were fast. Also played on a GolfNow “Hot Deal” and the fact that we played this track for $60 a guy was insane. Even at full price I would recommend this course to any golfer at there. Cannot wait to come back to this one

Beautiful course!

Open view of the course, to be able to see multiple holes against back drop of blue sky and rolling hills, was spectacular! There was no traffic noise, no commercial buildings nor houses in sight and the utterly peaceful setting was totally satisfying! We had to wait at every hole so the pace was pretty slow for Friday afternoon play. Some of the greens were yellowed but were playable.

No Marshalls - group in front took 25 mins to finish the first hole! One guy must have had 13 shots and still took out the flag for a putt..

Course is beat up - with so many hackers and just shear vol of play, tee boxes are a mess, no one repairs divots or pitch marks…you can see good it could/should be, but nothing like top 5 in NJ..

Pay extra and go play BallyOwens instead..or Heron Glen for less most days!
