Lost Key Golf Club

Refreshing to see this course rebound from its poor fairway conditions earlier this spring, the maintenance staff has has done a great job bringing them back. If I were complaining letting three walkers out on the back in front of us coming up on #10 well you know how slow the back was waiting on them. The greens are great rolling easily 10 plus. This course makes you play the course, shot placement is almost critical on most holes tee to green. Play this course without disappointment.

We had a fun day. Lost a few balls, but we were fore warned. Greens were in great shape.

We let several singles play thru, but we tried to keep pace. We had a foursome, but we all play as quickly as possible. Looking for balls slowed us down a bit.

All in all a very nice day on a good course.

Greeted by starter and he told me that I could probably go off a little bit early. I was paired up with a gentleman who was a very good golfer..

We played fast although we had some groups ahead of us, so there was some waiting.

When I finished golf, I had someone clean my clubs and and ask, how was the course?

The course was in great shape. The greens were the best I had seen in a while.

Great, tight course that rewards great play but will be brutal on any mishits. Locals call it Lost Ball and I surely see why. Great conditions. Greens were in great shape.

Been playing lost key for around 20 years when we come on vacation. Always enjoyed the layout, although it is tough and the bunkers are very strategically placed. They moved from Bermuda grass, which is not salt tolerant, to a Seashore Paspalum several years ago. That made a world of difference. It’s been almost three years since we were here last and the greens are absolutely perfect. The speed and smoothness were just right for a resort course. They almost look artificial! As an old retired golf course superintendent/owner , do yourself a favor and go play Lost Key! Oh, and you need to hit it pretty straight. Hence the nickname Lost Ball!

The title says it all. Lost Key is a gorgeous course. It is well maintained with exceptional greens… But the layout is gimmicky at best. Playing from the back tee box, there are too many blind landing areas for a course that plays this tight. I understand the desire to make it “hard“ but do that through strategy not through gimmicks. Having a hole that forces someone to lay up to 180 yards and then hit into an elevated green that is long and narrow with hazards on every side is a little ridiculous. Miss the green by a foot or two and your ball is in the hazard. It’s lazy architecture at best. And unfortunately, it is a recurring theme on this course.

Lost Key provides an exceptional golf experience. It is a very tough course to play. If you’re not accurate with your driver you may want to leave it at home. But the course is in excellent shape and the staff is great too.

The course places a premium on acvuracy. Stripe it down the fairways and you will have much more success. Hit your ball too far left or right and kids it goodbye. The greens were excellent with rrue speed and premium roll. The length is a great test of power. We enjoyed this course tremendously. Will be playing it as soon as possible again.

This course was in absolute fantastic condition!! Some of the best greens I’ve played on for a public track. The course isn’t very long but the layout protects the course from being taken advantage of!! Not a lot of room to miss!! Fairways are decently wide but definitely favor more of a straight ball than a shaped shot as there isn’t much room off of the fairways to the native areas. The course is carved into the swamp and it’s gorgeous!! A lot of native vegetation and water just a few yards off both sides of the fairway on every hole! You really have to think about your carry distance but also your runout distance on every swing from the tee and into the green. But there are a couple of holes where if you’re feeling confident with the big stick, you can take a chance and drive the green! If you are in the Orange Beach area, this is an absolute must!! If you don’t like to hit your longer irons, you better be very accurate with the woods. . . there’s a reason it’s nicknamed “Lost Ball”!!! 10/10 for the course!!

This is my favorite course to play and it is in excellent shape if you are in the area you have to play this course. From pro shop,cart guy,to starter they are very professional and considerate. The course is perfect a must play

The course is in the best shape I’ve ever seen it. I’ve played it every year since it first opened. We have been coming to Perdido Key for 35 years. It’s a tuff course if you don’t hit it straight. Take what it gives you. It’s a penalty-reward course. You will be hard presser to find many flaws with the maintenance of this public course. It’s as good as it gets.

I always enjoy playing this course. It is a difficult course to play and it is a challenge layout but I love the challenge
