Fairways hard to play off of.
As others have written, really good greens now. A little slow when I played. But because of no rain and no fairway watering, be aware the faieway runout is crazy! Because of this, you can easily hit throught the fairways on the dog-leg holes. Club down on your GPS distances. Will return but after a lot of rain.
Greens Look Good
I’ve played this course a few times over the years and I’ll start with the good. The greens are the best I’ve ever seen them. The staff is usually friendly as well, I’ve only ever had one problem with them. The bad: the fairways and rough areas are still not in great shape. For 1 of only 2 public courses in newnan, I would think they would want to get the course in shape to compete with SummerGrove. Right now they’re not even close. Maybe one day.
Coweta Club
I had not played this course in several years due to the condition of the greens (diseased, more sand than grass). I read some recent reviews and chose to take a chance and try it again, because I enjoy mountain courses, and this course fits that bill. The elevation changes are frequent and some are intense, and some holes are pretty spread out, so I wouldn't recommend walking this course. The tee boxes are mostly sand, but I use a tee on them, so that's not really a concern for me. The fairways are starting to come in, and with some watering, should be pretty lush by summer. The fringes around the green could use some work on some of the holes, but they are coming in, as well. The greens, however, were the absolute best part of the course (the pace was a close 2nd). The greens are in the best shape I have seen them in years, truly the highlight of the day. Our 4-some teed off behind a couple, and we maybe saw them again once that afternoon, but were never held up. We let a 2 some play through at the turn (careful on this hole, elevation, et al.), but otherwise we didn't really see anyone else on the course. The weather was beautiful as well. The clubhouse is under construction, so amenities are pretty limited, but the course attendant was great, and kept us updated while we waited for our carts (we arrived a good bit early). It was a great day for golf, and Coweta Club did not disappoint. I would recommend checking out this course to anyone, but also understand this is not an "easy" layout, in the least.
Decent
If you can get a hot deal it’s worth the money. If not you can find better values other places.
Better than Normal
Right now the course is in good condition because of cooler temperatures. The course has bentgrass greens and after a hot summer, they usually lose their greens. If you are going to play here, play right now
Gave the club second chance
My wife and I loved it. We played this course last time about three years ago. We heard someone saying that the course was improving, so we came to check. All the greens were beautiful. It was a great pleasure for us to know that Coweta Club has now come back to our favorites. The golf cart paths show that renovation is going on. We are so happy that finally somebody is committed to manage it right.
Challenging
Could use some rain but the place has a ton of potential. Super fun course
Tee boxes need help
The layout makes the course very challenging and the greens are in great shape but the tee boxes need some attention but very nice golf course overall for the price
Coweta Club - Improving - Greens Definitely Worth Another Chance
Played course a number of times, yes past reviews were correct on how bad greens were. However recently played and was amazed how much greens had improved and filled in from rough condition they were in last summer. They just fertilized greens and punched so they should come back even better. Also have done better job cleaning up course i.e. sticks, leaves, pine straw etc. Suggestions - Would also like to see a some focus on fertilizing and watering fairways. Tee boxes need work over seeding or sodding.
With much better greens currently and a bit more work this course is tough but no layout like it on south side, could be a real jewel. Definitely worth giving another chance at playing.
Winter rules still in play
This is a very challenging course. The course was still wet frim the recent rain deluge but played very well. It is a links type course meandering through a beautiful neighborhood. None of the holes were flat and neither were there green making shot selection mandatory. I would definitely play this course again and foresee it becoming more challenging as the spring season approaches.
Greens
Haven’t seen the greens this good in years - even in the summer.
. Basically an unplayable course
Course needs closed down for a year and do major work on greens and fairways . This is basically and unplayable course for anyone that really plays golf. Closing will help you to make more.money aftwards because you won’t get any return players either how bad this course is.
Great course layout…but needs TLC
Love the course and it setting, however greens are in terrible condition, most tee boxes not much better
Worst conditions I have played in all year
This course needs some major renovation and TLC. The greens were un-puttable. I had to chip it on the green if I was more than 10 feet away. Fairways were mostly crab grass and dirt.
Horrible!
This was by far the worst course that I have ever played. The greens are horrible with barely any grass. The clubhouse looks abandoned. The staff was not very friendly. Will never play this course again.
