About
Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, Del., is a 145-acre public course, billed as a “natural treasure.” The 18-hole championship course gets the moniker thanks to its surroundings -- the ancient forest of White Clay Creek State Park. The 145-acre play, acquired by the state of Delaware in 2005, is a par-70, 6,323-yard golf course that features rolling terrain, smooth bent grass putting surfaces and scenic vistas. The mix of memorable, distinctive holes adds to the difficulty, as does the memorable, heavily wooded setting and dramatic elevation changes. Before or after your round at Deerfield Golf Club, enjoy the large putting green, full-service practice range, or lighted tennis and paddleball courts.

Good condition, extremely hilly
Course is in very nice condition but you won't have a flat lie all day. Course Is not walkable due to hills. It's a pretty short course too even from the blues. I hit drives in the mid 250s and many holes were driver then wedge.
Delaware Native first time playing Deerfield
I had an amazing time playing this course! The weather was perfect, and the three guys I was paired with were great company, which made the round even more enjoyable.
The course itself is challenging, to say the least, but it’s in outstanding condition and an absolute blast to play. Every hole keeps you engaged, and the layout rewards good shots while demanding accuracy.
I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a fun and challenging round. That said, I wouldn’t suggest it for someone who is brand new to the game. You need to hit the ball well off the tee and keep it in play, or it can turn into a very long day.
Overall, I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to play it again!
Disappointed
Deerfield has a reputation for having extremely fast greens that roll true, but present major challenges with all the undulations and severe slopes. However, due to all the rain that we've had recently, I'm assuming that's why the greens were in terrible shape. They were slow! They were pitted!They did not roll true!
The three guys that I was playing with, who play there on a very regular basis, could not believe how poor the greens were!
It made for a very disappointing round of golf.
Good April round.
I played in a threesome on a Wednesday morning in April. It was my first look at the course this year. It was in very good condition. The fairways and rough were appropriately lush, and the greens were surprisingly fast. We were playing at about a 4 hour pace, but 2 of the groups in front of us stopped after 9 holes, so we scooted on the back nine. It was a hot day, so I enjoyed a club sandwich and a cold beer afterwards. Very good.
Be prepared
Very challenging course, the only flat lies were on the tee box.
Lots of hills
The course was in very good condition for this time of year. The greens are mostly recovered from the winter aeration
Worth playing
Challenging couse. Good condition. Friendly staff.
Tuff Course
Very tough course. If you can get good on this course, you’ll be a master at all other courses.
