Moody Gardens Golf Course
About
The Carlton Gipson-redesigned Moody Gardens Golf Course is one of the most difficult tracks in Texas, universally considered one of the top five municipals in the state. The Gulf winds pound the course and water comes into play on every hole. Even from the regular tees, the route rolls 6,816 yards, so short knockers are truly at a disadvantage.
Getting there : From I-45 south, exit 61st St. and turn right. Find Stewart and turn right, then turn right again on 99th Street. Drive to Sydnor Ln. and turn right-you'll see the entrance on the right side of the road.

Great outing at MG golf course
Drove from Lake Charles Louisiana to take my son n law to play a round of golf for his birthday. It was a beautiful course and we had a great time. It was definitely a positive experience for both of us. We will definitely be back in the future
Demanding but fair
Love playing Moody Gardens. I've played some of my best rounds here and I believe it's helped a great deal by the fabulous shape the course is always in. If you keep the ball in play you stand a good chance of going low. If you're off course a small amount it can hurt as it gets ugly in a hurry. Very dense growth along the edges. The greens are immaculate and roll very true. If you read the greens well you stand a good chance at some birdies. Overall an enjoyable place to play.
“Happy Camper “
Played the course several times over the past months and always happy with my experience.🏌️😄
Fun in the sun
Great overall experience. Always exceeds my expectations
Beautiful course and a lot of fun. Lots of water views and water on the course.
Good Course
My family and I were on vacation in Galveston and I decided to play Moody Gardens. Good course, good layout, and plenty of water. I definitely recommend this course to anyone visiting the Galveston area.
Coarse was in great shape
Dawn was amazing! Great personality, very informative and kind!
Great time at Moody.
Great greens, course in nice shape. Lots of water and wind provided a tough test. Watch out for the mosquitoes. Driving range nice. Clubhouse meh, they messed up our food order at the turn.
Very nice
The fairways are clean and the greens but some of the tee box need some work but overall is a nice place to play
Champions facility for practicing before your round
I play The Moody Gardens Golf Club every visit to Galveston Island. It’s always in top shape year around. Very professional atmosphere from the Pro shop to the practice tee, and threw out the Course. I highly recommend and build it into your visit to Galveston Island.
Fantastic conditions
Greens were so fast but fun. Great time. Course was in great shape
Fun times, but lost balls
Really enjoyed the course in early June. In the rough and near water hazards there were a lot of mosquitos. I think 16 of the 18 holes had water...so needless to say with the wind I lost a lot of balls. Disappointed with the sand traps, they were very hard and had very little sand in them (surprising since were on the sandy beach!). Fairways and greens were in great shape. Each hole had it's unique challenges, but I had a lot of fun playing the course!
Memorial Day Play
I’ve played this course many times and it’s a gem! I took my wife out to play on Memorial Day and got paired with another couple who come to find out don’t get to play a whole lot and there to have fun. We were keeping up till about hole 7 and let the group behind us to play through. The course wasn’t super busy given the rain from that morning. At the turn the Marshall was rude to us saying we are not allowed to let people play through, have to keep up, and to skip holes to keep up. The girls felt bad at this point and decided to not play that much and changed the whole mood of our holiday. Marshall could have handled the situation much differently to educate and enrich the experience to new golfers to the game. Won’t bring the wife back.
We were welcomed by the staff in the Pro Shop, she was the absolute sweetest. She got us checked in and ready to go in no time. It rained a little in the beginning but overall it was a fun filled day. I would come back.
Moody Gardens Links with Water
The course is a links style with very few trees. The layout is challenging with the wind and water as major defenses. The day we played the wind was out of the Southeast at a little more than 15 Knots (20+ mph). It was tough. The greens were very slow because of aeration a few weeks earlier. 5 par 5s and 5 par 3s make for a fun day. The staff was very nice and maintained a decent pace of play with the marshall talking to groups on the back nine. I will try to go back soon.
