Blue Lake Golf Club
About
Often overshadowed by the high-dollar resorts and new championship layouts, Blue Lake is one of the lesser-known gems of the Highland Lake area. Exuding the old-school charm of its course designer, the crusty Jimmy Burke, this scenic track is loaded with wildlife and is generally a joy to play because of its simplicity.
Burke’s par 32 layout consists of five par 3s, three par 4s, and only one par 5. There are no bunkers or water hazards. The course weaves in and out of a quaint housing community, and a few elevated tees offer views of Lake LBJ.
Notable holes include the 365-yard par 4 with out-of-bounds looming left and trees on the right, and the par 3 16th, which plays almost 200 yards.
Two sets of tees make for an 18-hole round, andyou can pay once and play all day.
Getting there : From Hwy. 71 west, turn right on Blue Lake Deer Haven Dr., then drive 2 miles north to the course.

Texas Hill County Gem
Great Layout and Beautiful Hill County and Lake Views.
Fun Track, Beat the crowds
I wanted to play some holes with my 7 year old. I like Blue Lake because of the price and you can avoid crowds everywhere else in the area. Played 9 holes in under 100 mins. I would definitely come back!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Hidden Gem Worth Playing Again and Again
Blue Lake Golf Course was a fantastic first-time experience! The course is incredibly scenic, in outstanding condition, and offers the perfect mix of fun and challenge. Every hole was enjoyable, with just enough difficulty to keep things interesting without being overwhelming.
A special shoutout to Tammy in the pro shop. She was genuinely kind, welcoming, and went out of her way to make sure we were enjoying our round and had everything we needed. That level of customer service really stood out and made a great experience even better.
Between the beautiful course, excellent conditions, and outstanding hospitality, Blue Lake has definitely earned a spot on our list of courses to play again. We’ll absolutely be back!
Fun little course
I played this course for the first time and was pleasantly surprised in how much fun it was for a 9 hole course. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The course was in great shape. Several par 3s on the course. The par 3s were all challenging holes as they play long and if there is wind to factor in, they play long. I'll definitely come back and play this course again.
Perfect course for easy going golf!
Good course for couples to play together, pace was perfect and the staff was over the top friendly. Course was in great shape and quite challenging for the hill country landscape and terrain.
Golf now
Paid a convenience fee to golf now for the discounted rate my tee time at 6. I was supposed to pay $15 at the course , they said it wasnt right and charged me twilight rate of $30.
Even after showing the price on the app.
No way to contact golf now from their app.
Amazing Course
Beautiful & Tammy up front was so sweet and helpful! Amazing course
Awesome 9 hole track
Got a great deal and played with my kids. Superfund course in great condition. Greens were pure and we had a great time well defiantly be coming back frequently
Small Course with Big Challenges
This is a fun little course to play.
It’s nearly impossible to find a flat lie which provides all the difficulty missing from not having water or sand traps. You’ll have to play smart golf to shoot low here.
Greens are small and soft. Very well kept
Fairways are average for hill country
Tee boxes are lush but not level
Another good day!
Greens were firm and smooth making for a good pitting experience. Fairways were firm and a little rough in many places. And no flat ground out here making for interesting rolls!
Greens in great shape
Blue Lake is a cool little track. It’s not fancy but it’s fun. The greens are in great shape and the fairways, for being dormant, are also in good shape.
Greens in GREAT Shape
I have played this course about twice a year for the last three or four years. This is the best I've ever seen the greens. They are usually a little shaggy but no bare spots. This time they were running very smooth and pretty fast. Very consistent putting surface across all the greens. Course was in great shape overall. It's more than an executive course nine holes since most of the parties are 160 yds to 190yds. instead of the the super short executive style course. Little more expensive then expected for what you get. But fair value, just not a bargain. Staff always friendly.
Quality personified
Friendly staff it felt like a course away from home definitely play again b4 going back to SA. Hope to score better next time. Texas charm and friendliness experienced
Greens used to be good
Played here a year ago about this time and came back yesterday and not the same situation greens are kind of burned up real bad spots fairways and everything look okay but looks like they've killed some of their putting areas that leaves to be less desired
