Really tidy. Some very nice little touches recently to make the course smart & still very much enjoyable.
Well done.
Hennerton Golf Course
I thought the stroke indexing was all wrong - there are 3 or 4 tough holes, particularly the long par 5, that were not correctly indexed. In my opinion.
Couple of the shorter par 4’s should really be tough par 3’s.
I was able to reach the greens with good drives on 3 of them. I played off 28 handicap and shot 5 under (my best round ever) not sure it will translate on a slightly tougher course.
Nevertheless, really enjoyed playing, good variety of hills which were special and unique to the area.
Review
Excellent improvements made.
Great course anyway
Love it.
It's OK. Not worth the Green Fee
This was the only course in the area which I've never played. Plated late April.
The course is short and hilly. Driver only required on handful of holes.
Greens were in good condition, but tee boxes a very mixed picture. Quite a few rock hard mats to the off from, I couldn't even get a tee into them- for this time of year I find that unacceptable.
If you're local then this is a good knock around course. Unfortunately the cheaper courses in the area have closed. There's better value within 30mins drive.
Late March Hennerton
For context we have been having awful rain for the last couple of months. The course was ok, greens were in reasonable condition all things considered. The fairways definitely had some muddy patches with limited grass.
The course itself is very short a lot of par 3s only most of the par 4 & 5 don’t really need a driver.
Not a good course if you struggle with elevation as a few ot the paths are pretty step.
Pro is the shop was nice enough, bar staff friendly.
£35 for the hot deal was ok, wouldn’t want to pay much more.
Quirky and enjoyable course
This course was so worth the money and I really enjoyed my round. It offers a quirky course with different green elevations and challenges, bunkers and water hazards to dogleg rights and lefts. Would recommend to anyone and it is playable in the wet winter weather which I was concerned it might not like other courses I've played. The one negative I would give is driving range as I believe it was £5 maybe just over for 20 balls I would never in a million years pay that pretty criminal but I guess the location is in a wealthy area around Sonning and people may be willing to pay that but for the frugal ones like myself, No way.
Windy day
Had a good day at Hennerton. Greens were ok and overall condition was good./fair. Struggled with the wind and quite slow 4 ball in front that clearly didn’t want to let me through.
I played 3 ball better ball and just used round as practice.
New range looking amazing and opening tomorrow.
Loved it- definitely coming back
Great course played really well- exceptional par 3s
Unique is just an understatement….
You should play this course just for the uniqueness of it. Guaranteed you won’t play a course with as much steep elevation changes as this one. The price is a bit steep given the fact that it has so many psi 3s but it is more than made up for the quality of the greens.
Superb course with hills
Loved it front 9 not long but very steep walking. Did 11 holes only as walking was quite hard . Came back following day did back 9 which were flatter but longer with one quite tough Hill on 16th. Really enjoyed it but pretty exhausted after. £70 for 2 rounds but I only did 1 so expensive.
Club house lovely but £3.50 for Diet coke expensive.
Overall very good but it was hard walking and expensive.
Great course with so much variety. Really enjoyed it.
Nice condition but actually more a pitch and putt
The course condition was good but the course is more a pitch and putt. The few par fours are all reachable with 3 woods but you cannot play them as they’re all blind and you’ve no clue where the group ahead are. Shocking course layout and playability. A ridiculous number of par 3’s but still took 4 hours. Never again.
Mixed review
Greens in good condition. Pace of play was very slow (4 hours) for such a short course. For £44 it’s worth paying a bit extra for better courses in the area. Staff very friendly.
Bunkers not great
Hi there - Greens are still recovering from being spiked so better than last time, but Bunkers have very little sand in them.
