Tilgate golf
I think the last time we played was at end of Covid and the course had suffered. Great to see it back to its former glory
Pace of play
We played tilgate on Friday
We were a 2 ball both ok golfers on 10 and 12 handicaps.
We caught up to a 4 ball possibly members as playing off white tees, even though we were much quicker they never once asked us through which led to a very frustrating morning, all of them were struggling to hit the ball over 120yds.these situation needs looking into
Super slow play, terrible tee boxes, greens in pretty poor condition and just overall course super dried out - need some green keeping - green 17 is even closed... But for the price it’s still somewhat fair
Worst greens - temp tees
Isn’t worth the money anymore I would not be coming back here again no green on the 17th looks like it’s been that way for a while flag is in the middle of the fairway.. greens are terrible can’t roll a straight put whatsoever on these.. course layout is actually really good just needs to be shut for a few months and renovate but assuming this will soon turn into a housing development anyways!
On its knees!
The course feels like it’s on its knees. Have played here many times and generally found it to be in good nick. We (2 ball) tee’d off early on Easter Monday and were already questioning the £40 per person, as we were told on entering the clubhouse that there were 4 temporary greens (a flag stuck in the middle of the fairway) and every bunker on the course was GUR. Not only that, but a week into April and every tee box was out of action and so we were off mats throughout. I’m happy to pay good money for good courses, but my guess is that they will charge a similar amount in the summer when things are closer to resembling a golf course. Wouldn’t touch this course for more than £20 a round at present and would stay well clear. Really disappointed.
Litter everywhere
Shame this pictesque course was mard by the presence of cans, wrappers, plastic glasses etc.
Rubbish everywhere
What a shame to have a picturesque course ruined by the discarded cans, cups and empty ball boxes. Not a rubbish bin on every hole......
Greens are in very good condition but nothing else is maintained. The fairway grass has been cut too short and now bare. There is no semi rough on any hole just fairway then jungle!
If you want to FIND balls this is the place, as they are easy to lose if veering off direction. It's difficult and tight but for an enjoyable game don't bother.
The litter is a disgrace to the owners! Get some bins, get some signs. Ok the public walk this area but are there warnings not to discard litter?
Not worth the £29, probably better value at Cottersmore, Ifield, or Rockwood!
Improving
A much improved course!
The greens on the back nine could do with additional care to have them match the greens on the front nine!
All in all though a good day out on a challenging course of narrow drives!
Awful maintenance
The course conditions were awful. Covered in mud where it appeared no grass cutting, leaf removal or general care and attention has been made for a significant amount of time. It made sense when we saw the two groundskeepers racing their buggies on the holes. There were 4 ‘temporary’ greens, which were simply a hole in the middle of the fairway - awful.
Beautiful Challenging Course
10/10 for greens/pace of play/beauty and difficulty. Thinking it’s short (by looking at overall yardage) would be foolish as it’s one of the tightest courses I have played. Wonderful challenge.
The greens were a receptive and electric and are some of the best I have played ever. Pure.
Surprised by some of the reviews below as this ranks up there in my opinion especially due to the beauty of the course.
Perhaps the course is now in better care, but I will for sure be returning and I must add the value makes it even better.
Enjoy!
Good course, slow play.
The course plays well. However, the pace of play was shocking. Stood over every ball and stood waiting on every tee waiting for people to clear 50 yards in front of the tee box.
