Good greens and not much else..
Played here on a perfect day for golf.
1st problem is parking is a nightmare. There is one, very small public car park - if you can't get a space there, youre oj for a long walk as there are very few alternate spaces if itnis full like it was today.
Once I did get going, holes have a devent layput with some challenge, but the fairways are not fairways. I wasn't expecting perfect, but i did expect to be able to see where the fairway ends and the rough starts. You can't, its just rough all the way pretty much.
The greens are nice, probably the highlight of the course. I suppose you get what you pay for, but there are much nicer courses not too far away for similar prices. I don't think I'll be returning.
Great design, amazing green, poor fairways
Confusing path between holes…. Poor fairways..good greens, great landscape, poor infrastructure.
Confusing location of holes and clubhouse but nice greens
Amazing green quality, 9 hole loop which I didn’t realise so you play the same hole twice but also super confusing as hole 11 is hole 1. Take a tee card instead of relying on 18Birdies or any apps. Didn’t make it all the way around as couldn’t play with the sheer amount of people walking around just puts you off having to wonder if anyone walking their dog might walk into your shot, which isn’t the clubs fault seeing as it’s on public land.
For the price they charge at peak times you’re better off going to a private golf course with 18 unique holes, however twilight prices very cheap
Would get a 4 or 5* if there was better signage for holes, clubhouse location, and practice facilities (which I didn’t see).
Woodford Golf Course
Great course and we played at 4.40pm- weather was great, course in good condition.
Really enjoyed playing there
Very friendly staff and members and course is a fair challenge
Woodford
We played the course after a long period of rain. Fairways were very wet and muddy which was expected. Greens were in very good condition considering the rain
Have played this course on quite a few occasions- very friendly and welcoming staff/members .
A good course
Best kept greens in east London
Woodford is a very beginner friendly course with a good variety of difficulties. Fairways are generally not too narrow so great for practicing driver shots.
As per title, honestly the best kept green i've seen on a public course, great for levelling up the putting game. Unfortunatelu fairways are not as well kept but still decent.
Note that it isn't fully a 18 course but rather 9 holes played twice but with different tee spots - quite interesting how much difference tee spot makes in a hole!
A great public course for breaking 100
A nice double loop of 9 greens with different tee boxes for the back 9, and a par 70 which makes it great for breaking 100/90/80!! Also much quieter than the other nearby courses which makes it a great spot for beginners or anyone looking to get a full round done in London in under 3.5-4 hours 😅
Great value course
I’m a beginner female golfer and I really enjoyed my round here. Everyone was very friendly and the staff are exceptional. Lots of quite challenging holes for me and not too far to walk between them.
The course is good but golf now put me with another player which i was not happy at all as im someone that that goes to play golf to be on on my own as im very intravert and dont like being around people and find it very uncomfortable at times, so i feel very strong about this as its a mental health condition and GN should confirm if your willing to play with others not just assume that im ok with it, i actully got 2 holes in and just wanted to leave due the anxiaty this was causing me. there is a reason i play golf and that is to be on my own when i feel i need to be.
Suits me
I’m a novice and this is my local course. Greens are in superb condition despite the current drought conditions. Fairways are parched but that is to be expected. Friendly staff. Tee off was 4:15. Courses was empty. So no pressure from players behind. For £15 what’s not to like.
Superb
Superb greens. Truly sublime. Gem of a course. Play here a lot and always enjoy the challenge. Well done to the Green Keeper, deserves a medal. Friendly golf club. Thank you.
Fabulous Greens!!!
Hats off to the greens staff. Per usual, done an incredible job to the fairways and greens, which are OUTSTANDING! 6hcp player. IMO… best greens in Essex. Well done !
