Nasty
The greens were awful. They admitted it ahead of time but the geese dropping all over the course is awful. One of the greens on a par 3 had so much, you couldn’t even attempt a putt. I haven’t been here in several years but now I recall why. This is the worst control of the geese droppings at a course I’ve ever seen. Definitely not worth the discounted rate. I’ll never be back after that disappointment. Could be a great course but they don’t want to manage these geese evidently.
Malpractice
The course was in great shape a few months ago nothing short of golf course malpractice to get to the current state of play. It is very sad. I hope they make corrections soon. Greens are destroyed, bunkers haven’t seen a rake in months. Overall lack of care. Play elsewhere
Solid course, greens struggling
Love the course, beautiful layout, good location, but the course has lost a lot of greens over the summer. Still not bad, and I hope they get them back soon. Regardless, fairways are in perfect condition, tee boxes are in good shape, and the staff is extremely nice. Layout is just fair; some holes are difficult, some easier. Pretty course.
Side tip: don't overspeed even by 1 mph in the neighborhood - they have hidden cameras and you will get a ticket in mail!
Also, give an extra ten minutes to check in at the gate to enter the subdivision.
Big Drop
Course has always been great to play but recently a drop in appeal. However, this time as I'm walking in a lady that just completed a round told me the greens were in bad shape. Her words never rang truer. First green is less than half playable putting surface. Overall 5 or 6 greens are in good condition the others mirror the first hole.
Just tough to play. No recommendation to play here.
Great course
Great course staff was great. Greens look terrible but ball rolls good on them.
Ugly Greens
The greens still have issues, some are better than others but overall still disappointing. And the $20 discount is not enough given their current condition, IMO.
The Greens
The greens were very disappointing! Tee to Green is e-maculate but the greens are more sand than grass; perhaps it is the geese’ fault?:(
Special Shout Out to Reed at the pro shop for the Outstanding Service!! Thanks!!:)
Always solid
Some greens were in rough shape but overall course was in great shape. Will continue to play here.
Lost Their Greens
St Marlo has lost their greens. They will need months to recover. You are better off getting a discounted rate from the clubhouse instead of going through GolfNow if you still want to play here. However, I would not advise it.
Should be reduced greens fees
All,
The greens are in horrible shape as it looks like they were aerated. incorrectly. I’ve played on aerated greens and there were maybe 2 greens that were playable. Greens fees should be discounted at least 40%. I won’t play there again this summer unless the greens are playable.
They recently had some sort of issue with the greens and many of them were damaged pretty significantly. They reduced the price of the round and are working to resolve it. The rest of the course was in good shape.
Greens are useless
Great track, friendly staff but the greens are some of the worst in the city. When I said something to the staff they actually said well that’s on you. 🤔 This course is beautiful, but for anything above $30 right now you’re getting taken. The greens are completely lost. Without tearing them out they will definitely not be back this year. If you don’t mind putting through sand and concrete then this is definitely a good spot otherwise avoid at all costs.
Greens
The greens were terrible. I would have not played there if I’d known. They let me know once I arrived and gave me a discount but it would have been nice to know in advance. The fairways were in great shape and the course layout, as well as pace of play were good. I’m hopeful they can fix the greens so I can come back.
Gone downhill
St. Marlo use to be a nice course that was pristine with an upper level feel to it. Now the greens are shot. there is goose poop everywhere and the tee boxes are littered with old tees and ground up divots. They need to put some money into the course. Charging $97 per round is criminal.
