They are having a few problems with the greens
Love the front nine layout more than back nine
Excellent set of par 3s
However apparently the bent greens were excellent until the punched them and now full of bare spots.
There we quite a few people out working on the course as we played which is encouraging.
St Marlow
The greens rolled much slower than a course of this caliber should have. I lost track of how many divots I repaired on the green. I understand that you rely on golfers to do this on their own but when that’s no the case the green keeper needs to make sure that handle this at least once a day to keep up with the demand. It also took over 5 hours to play 28 holes and I did not recall seeing a single Marshall one the course to speed up play. If there is an open hole in front of a front an any group of golfers causing other golfers to get backed up, that group should be asked to skip a hole to keep up pace of play.
7-some in front of us
I’ve been playing here for years. I know what to expect. It’s fun and close, reasonable price wise to play. It can be so much better. Reminding people to repair their ball marks on greens before teeing off (seems to be optional for most players out here). Then we got stuck behind a 5-some that suddenly turned into a 7-some. It slowed everyone down. Called the pro shop to get someone to come out, they were already gone. Again, it could be so much more…
A fun course
A fun layout, a challenging course with well manicured fairways. Greens improved after aeration a few weeks ago. Surprised at the number of unfixed ball marks. Cmon people it takes two seconds to fix a divot.
The greens need a little TLC
The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The course offers some of the most picturesque views you could want during a round. Most holes are lined with the gorgeous homes that are part of this community. The greens were shaggy and riddle with pitch marks. I enjoyed how receptive they were but, when they’re soft like this, I would love it if people would take a few seconds to repair theirs and at least one more. If this course wasn’t so far from my home, I’d play here a lot more.
Over priced and poor condition
The course layout is good. However; the course condition were pretty bad. Almost all of the greens are diseased, punched, bumpy and sloooow. There were MANY areas of the course under some sort of construction/repair for new sod, irrigation and general repair. The tee boxes were pretty beat up and players do not fill tee box divots or pitch marks on the greens. Fairways were decent but some were a little grass sparse. With all the rain and temps we have had lately it should be in much much better condition.
This course is asking $105 green fees and at best, based on the current conditions, it should be half that price. I feel sorry for the members of this course.
Great venue
Enjoyed playing this course. Layout had character and not like your basic golf course. If the greens were not punched I would have given a 5 star review
Needs improving
First the good, fairways are nice, they are putting money into the course with sod and fixing cart paths, you can see they are trying to improve. Now the reality, greens were aerated recently, which they told you about but they are struggling. There are burnt spots, bare spots and not in great shape. Hopefully with some sun and more rain they will come back. The course is worth a hot deal, but when prices reach close $100 they need to be better!
Not impressed
I know the green had been punched but the greens and many other areas on the course are not kept up. I suggest spending some money and and getting the course in better shape and you could even charge more.
St Marlo
I’ve been here a few times seems to be getting worse. Course is always wet, greens are in bad shape not counting aeration. Front desk not the friendliest and range wasn’t open til 930 while a lot of people were waiting for them to open and I didn’t really get to use the range because of it. Not counting the slow play here, waited on every hole. Won’t come back. Wouldn’t recommend it
