About
Owned and operated by the Byron Forest Preserve District, Prairieview Golf Course sits on a scenic stretch of land that overlooks the Rock River. The layout will test different skills with plenty of variety, offering both open, links-style holes and tight, tree-lined holes. The design takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating the varying elevations into the large and undulating greens. The breaks can make the greens hard to read and they're made even more challenging by more than 60 bunkers strategically places along the borders. There are also water hazards in the form of ponds and a meandering stream that come into play on five holes. In addition to the course, there is also a 15-acre practice facility with a driving range, two putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with two bunkers.

Golfer Reviews
Illinois
Course in good condition. A little slow at times, but a fun adventure. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice 19th hole and patio area. first time there, but appears to be a community asset.
Best Kept Secret
Worth the drive from the NW suburbs. Will do it again!
I was very upset with the pro shop manager . They said that the cart was not included in the price we paid to Tee Off. When I booked my tee time there is a cart next to price which would lead me to believe it was included. When I showed him on the app he said no it's not included I explained to him I wouldn't book a walking tee time for my husband and I because he has 2 artificial hips. To say the least I paid the fee. Is this something new? If it's not included it should be in writing so your customers would know.
Great Course
The course is in fantastic shape, greens are super fast and roll, sand traps are in nice shape along with the fairways. Takes us 75 minutes to get there well worth the drive. Want to get back to Byron a few more times this year before the season ends Cant beat the price.
Very nice@
I played this using the Hot Deal and I would play this without getting the hot deal. It's really an outstanding course all around!!!
Hidden Gem
I had heard lots of good things about this course over the years and decided to play it. The course was in great condition and an absolute joy to play. It easily is one of the best experiences and courses I've played in the last few years. It's location is a little over an hour from me, but the drive is well worth it and I will definitely look to play it many more times in the future.
Pace of play
Horrendous. Five groups on hole one after the turn. (Started on the back) I waited a bit and then just left. Frustrated.
First time
The turf was excellent. Greens were really fast. Staff was great. Carts are top notch with gps. We had 4 single players we let play through. Guess we should have to slow down for that but did
Bad greens pace of play very bad holes being fixed up not a complete golf course we were not told charging full green fees for a course that is being fixed up pretty sad wont be back
Great value course top notch for the price
Course is one of the great values with excellent greens . They are doing work on course though so there is only 17 holes (you play a temporary green shot) and the 11th is under major construction on going. For the cost this is a great option to play..
Speedy and True
This is my second time playing Prairie View. Fantastic driving range. Both covered and uncovered areas, depending on the weather. The practice green is very accurate to playing conditions. Greens are fast but true. Stay below the hole. Great layout, fairways were perfect, rough was lush, and bunkers were plentiful. Truly an excellent course and fun challenge. Hit’em straight!!
This course is a lot of fun to plau
Course has really good greens. Course is in great conditions and good pace of play. Back 9 was my favorite with some open fairways and decent hills.
Pristine condition
Love playing prairieview because the course condition is always excellent. The greens are in fantastic shape along with the fairways, tee boxes, and even the rough is at a perfect height without it being too punishing.i love the layout of this course and how friendly all the staff are the moment you walk in! Thank you for a great round time in and time out! Hecho played my third round there this summer and I will be back soon!!
