Tamarack Golf Club
About
Tamarack Golf Club is a course that will test your shot-making skills yet it is still player-friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. Pete Dye designed the course with tight, sculpted fairways and undulating greens that come in a range of sizes. The layout offers plenty of challenges with water or sand coming into play on every hole. The golf course will test your accuracy but it is not as difficult as many other Dye designs. The third is one of the toughest holes. A severely undulating green protected by deep bunkers makes placement vitally important on this par 3. The 15th is one of the back nine's more challenging holes. It presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity with a myriad of teeing options. Water lines the entire right side and the two-tiered green is flanked with bunkers to the front and right.

Work on the Sand Trap. Otherwise the course is not bad.
Pace of play terrible
The pace of play here was horrendous. Even for a Tuesday afternoon with a BUNCH of open tee times. Played the entire last 10 holes with 5 groups back to back to back. Many of those holes had all 5 groups on one hole backed up waiting for one another. Called the pro shop and they said they’d do something around hole 13 and absolutely nothing was done to remedy the situation. Just bring a Marshall out to nudge people along. Not that complicated to fix, but they seem to have no desire to do that at all. I can’t imagine what this place is like on a weekend.
Simply Not Good
Hadn't played here in a couple years, and was hoping for a much better experience than the last time. Unfortunately, really no saving grace to be found - it's somehow gotten profoundly worse over time. Many tee boxes were missing markers, bunkers are in horrible shape, and pace of play was absolutely atrocious. No one enforcing pace of play, people trying to jump holes and cut ahead, and just a general lack of etiquette seem to be standard here. This track seems to just attract the cheapest and most entitled golfers in the Chicagoland area. The cart was broken, there were not any water coolers on the course, and the lack of restrooms on a course that is surrounded by houses makes for a very long five hour weekday round as a single.
Needs a lot of help
First of all. The clubhouse was filthy, carpet, smell wood decking rotted. 4 girls behind the counter chatting not working. Fairways were reasonable. Rough was good. Sand traps needed at least 30 semi loads of sand. 80% of them had none, only mud. And no starter or ranger to assist with play speeds. I got a great deal because of GolfNow and my golf pass. Will not play there again
somehow worse every year
No sand in most bunkers.
Four tees listed on scorecard but only two on most holes.
No on-course restrooms in late May.
Absolute dog track. Avoid at all costs.
Great layout and course is improving
Great layout and the course has been improved since last year but still needs work in some of the bunkers…. Removal of rocks, basic drainage could installed by using soak aways ( cost effective option) as install proper drainage system would be an unrealistic expectation. And then introducing more sand where needed.
Will definitely play here again overall it’s great value for the money!
LONG SATURDAY
Played an absolutely brutal round on saturday had a tee time at 11:48 and didn’t tee off until 12:15. Waited on every tee box and almost every fairway. Round was easily over 5 hours. When we arrived and made our way to the putting green only 8 mins before our tee time (because we heard it was backed up) there were no carts for us to take. This is not on the day to day workers they did their best with a bad hand - tee times 8 minutes apart is absurd courses will always be backed up.
Nice round.
As expected, slowed up on th back 9, but had a nice round.
First Timer - Really enjoyed the course
It's still early in the spring, but generally, the course was iin good shape. The fairway bunkers could have used a bit of work, but the ones by the greens were in good condition. It's a tight course with lots of water and sand. Certainly knowing where the water comes and goes is helpful. I would definitely play ere again.
Tamarack not horrible, but needs some work
Not a bad course! However even though progress
is being made you can see the improvements , the sand traps need work in addition to needing more sand!
why not repair the golf course?
I wish they can do something on the course, everything looks terrible. Put some money to repair and provide sand for us to repair..
Playing in middle of February is always a treat .
Course was wet as expected but playable . Greens were fine for putting .
Great for Fall Ball
If you’re looking to get out and swing in fall Tamarack is a great place to get out and play! With challenging holes and fun par 3’s it’s always a good time to swing the clubs.
