Rush Lake Hills

Poor management and inconsistent standards. This was hands down the worst golf course experience I’ve ever had. From start to finish, we were essentially shadowed by the course ranger, who approached us four separate times accusing us of slow play, despite us doing everything we could to keep pace. We immediately allowed a single player behind us to play through. When asked, we also let a scramble group behind us pass… even though scramble formats typically understand there will be occasional waiting. Yes, we had 5 players (we paid for all 5) but to avoid slowing anyone down, only 3/4 of us played each hole. Two of our newer players only played two holes each total, again, to keep up the pace of play. We explained this to the ranger multiple times. He didn’t care. Instead, on the 8th hole, he told us that management wanted us to split up for the 9th hole. Of course we agreed but that made no sense and actually slowed us down more than our original system. The part that really highlighted the inconsistency: while we were being micromanaged for simply playing respectfully, we also witnessed a grown man screaming obscenities at the top of his lungs and throwing his club repeatedly. There were kids on the course, yet the ranger seemed completely unbothered by that behavior. In short, we did everything right, let others play through, limited how many of us were hitting, and prioritized pace of play. But we were still treated like a problem, while actual disruptive behavior went unchecked. We won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone who values respectful play and fair treatment.

Hilliest course I've played in a long time, almost easy to forget you're in the midwest. Tiny greens and crazy undulation, you'll need some confidence with the wedges. The best thing about this course for me is that it isn't boring. Every hole presents a unique challenge, but isn't unreasonably punishing. High handicappers won't score well, but likely won't lose too many balls compared to many other courses. A great balance between distance and shot difficulty in my opinion. Conditions were solid enough but didn't blow me away. I found a spot on every tee box that wasn't destroyed, and greens rolled quick enough and were easy to read, but you're not putting on glass by any means. Hot dogs are boiled not grilled, decent buns but I wish they had more toppings options. Bridges were functional but uninteresting.

It's a golf club. They block out a lot of their tee times to accommodate the members of the club. You can't play the course after 5:00 on weekends due to leagues. You can't play the course after 1:30 on weekdays due to leagues. They're well within their rights to do this. I'm just happy that I was able to play 18 with a cart on a Saturday for under $40.

The intervals are among the shortest I've seen for any course. They have 2 tee times every 15 minutes. Luckily, the course wasn't crowded when I played it. You just need to learn to skip groups/holes or you're in for a long day. The group ahead of me took 5 hours to complete their round.

They aren't on GolfNow, and their tee sheet software isn't entirely accurate. I carefully picked a time when I thought the course wasn't going to be crowded and was greeted by multiple groups on the second tee box.

In terms of the layout, it's a pretty manageable course. The front 9 has three Par 5's and a couple of short Par 4's that most golfers should be able to take advantage of. There are quite a few holes where elevation plays a factor. Some of the fairways and greens are crowned, and you need to know where to miss (#15 in particular was a nightmare of a green). The back 9 had a few picturesque holes (#12 and #13 in particular) which were surrounded by woods.

Cheaper than anything else in the area. The price tag attracts a lot of hacks, and we were stuck behind a very slow group the first few holes, but once we skipped #5 we didn't wait the rest of the round and got done quickly. Hills make the course interesting. Other courses are close to highways/roads, this one felt serene until someone had to ruin it with their bluetooth speaker. Staff was friendly, snacks and beverages were reasonably priced.

The course is in amazing shape for a public golf course. Dont be fooled by the wide open fairways on the front 9. Greens are small and sneaky fast with suttle breaks, and the ones you think break dont haha. Price for 18 holes is great and they have a 7 dollar 9 hole replay, or 11 bucks for another 18! I almost didnt want to post a review just to keep the place on the down low, but the staff deserves it due recognition. Also, if you live near Rush they have a smoking membership deal.

Course is in great shape. Got a very good rate through GolfNow!! Just 2 of us, played in 3 /2 hours. Great hot dogs at the turn. Staff is very personable and professional...

This course is beautiful and fun. Not only do the profits go to cancer research funding, but it’s a cheap course to play that has the truest rolling greens around. There are also rolling hills all around the course, as opposed to tons of bunkers. I highly recommend it.

This course is a good value for money for sure.

The course condition is well maintained, relatively speaking, for a course that only charges $20/18 holes with cart. Greens are small and difficult to master. The speed of green is slow. Making the green faster would make this course much more fun and challenging.

Place was great to just get out and golf. Good to get some swings in for a great price. Hotdogs were delicious. Always have cold beer on hand which is nice!!

First time playing here. Couldn't beat the Hot Deal price. A nice relaxing round that allowed me to work on a few problems with my game. There are a few blind shots, couldn't see foursome in front of me, fearful to tee off too soon,. Greens in great condition. Was able to get 18 completed in under 3 hours.

I love this course. I can rear back and let it go. My drives are 210 avg (woman) and I have no trouble in my landing zones. Some of the greens are turtle backs but it’s a great challenge and a test of patience! I’ll be back several more times.

If you are like me, i.e. golf a few times a summer this is perfect! It's not a very tough course and has hardly any sand or water. I personally enjoyed it because I don't think I lost more than 1 ball all round! It's also a beautiful course tucked away with great views and pretty decent course conditions. Overall I loved it, and there were some challenging holes which provided some entertainment for my slice and dice in and out of the rough. Would recommend it to anyone in the area as the value is pretty much unbeatable.

I love this course!! I didn’t like the drunk 6-some in front of me, but the course is awesome!!! Can’t wait to play it again!
