About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Great greens, tough course layout…especially if pace of play gets slow.
Overall, I feel the course was ok. Nothing glamorous and the greens were a highlight for sure. The starter and guys in the pro shop were super nice. The challenge, in my humble opinion, was the course layout forced us to hit into people (and luckily not getting hit despite several close calls). For example, there were several holes where the greens were right next to the next tee box. Additionally, there were several holes where any slice off the tee were coming at you (most guys did at least yell fore) so you’re constantly looking around instead of enjoying your round. The weather was pretty nice with strong winds at times, but if it’s hot and you’re looking for shade, this course was a bit limited with now water anywhere (although the pro shop provided reasonable prices for gatorades, etc.). I feel the price was a bit high for the experience, however the staff were incredibly nice and pace was 90% (nothing out of the ordinary for a muni course). Again, I felt we at least broke even in the end especially on a Father’s Day weekend.
Another Trip to Mattawang
Mattawang is a hidden gem course is in great shape, staff is super friendly, early part of the week you can fly around the course. Highly recommend playing here!!
Hidden gem
Very impressed with this course and will definitely be back. From the friendly starter who gave us some good pointers to the amazing conditions of the green. Fast pace of play. Loved it!
Great Conditions
Havnt played here in 2 years but conditions greatly improved - hole 7 is like you always pictured how it could be . A lot of clean up has taken place along with the general reconditioning over all. Greens were perfect - we had extremely hot weather so they were left a bit high but understandable to prevent burning - but very true . Definately recommend - great layout and conditions

Greens
Very friendly, speed perfect, condition excellent.
An issue
Course was in pretty good shape. Some greens , I’m guessing, were recently aerated, so slow.
4 hour round which ended at 3.30
The pro shop etc. locked up. No one was available . No rest room available .
On the course, no water stations no cart service.
For the $ it’s ok, but it isn’t going to be a place I play frequently
Sunday after the rain
Played on Sunday morning. The course was in great shape with no standing water. Greens were in great shape,not soaked and played true. Fun times as always. 4 hr round.
