Power Rankings: Top-rated courses in the 1st quarter of 2018 based on golfer reviews

Like a relative on a holiday weekend, Old man winter has stuck around longer than he's welcome in the Midwest and East Coast.

In what sounds like a cruel post-April Fool's joke, as much as four to six inches of snow have brought more white misery to golfers in several northern states dying for spring-like temperatures to take root.

The Power Rankings for the first quarter of 2018 reflect such wicked weather. Most of our top 10 still reside in warm-weather locales like Florida, Louisiana, Texas, California and Las Vegas. But there is one outlier.

The Bay Course at Seaview Golf Club in Absecon, N.J., managed to attract enough positive reviews to sneak all the way up to second place. Not bad for a course surrounded by a snow belt. The historic course won't host the ShopRite LPGA Classic for another three months.

One Golf Advisor user called his round on March 24 a "nice break from the snow".

He wrote: "Well maintained course even during the winter - great view. We had a good time."

The top spot was claimed by the King and Bear Golf Course at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. Reviewer steelersnotredame107 wrote it was "worth every penny".

"If you’re like me and search for deals and try to get the best bang for your buck, you can be pretty critical of courses you pay over $100. But this course is worth it. Play this course if you have the chance. If you’re making a golf trip to St. Augustine this has to be in it."
