About
Although it is tucked away just north of Hampstead, Castle Bay Country Club will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. The golf course offers an authentic Scottish-links design that incorporates the natural wetlands of its coastal Carolina location, giving it a truly unique character. The landscape of rolling dunes is covered with native grasses but completely devoid of trees. Tall sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout and there are also expansive waste areas, both characteristics that are true to its links nature. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. Accurate shot placement is the key to doing well on this course and just like any seaside links layout, the coastal breezes play a prominent role. Much of the difficulty of the golf course comes from negotiating with the prevailing winds.

Great value
Greens are always in great shape. Tough links course and the wind is always zipping, overall it’s always a great experience.
Fun course
Have played here 4 times over the last month. A really fun course. Multiple tee boxes so you can play just the right length for your game and use all of the clubs in your bag. Greens were quick and well maintained. Would highly recommend this course to the experienced golfer.
Great Course
Love playing Castle Bay since they added in the new greens, stays wet after rain for a day or two so plan accordingly for weather. Just got brand new carts and they’ll be outfitted with GPS once the corona is over
Great course for a great price!
Had the chance to go play this course on a Sunday afternoon with a few family members. The staff was very welcoming and the restaurant/bar staff were very kind as well, preparing us a delicious meal at the turn. The course itself is very fun! Not too challenging for beginners but the back tees can make this links style course tough enough for all levels. I’d recommend this course to anyone looking for a 18 hole vacation!
Castlebay Country Cluc
Excellent design and layout, large greens and wide landing areas. This is a very challenging golf course that is a must to play.
Great Friday round
Really nice course, greens are really fast and rolled true. Great layout with a nice mixture of short and long holes.
Golf edicate
Great course and price, unfortunately because it is a great deal you get guys out here that think because they own the equipment and take a few lessons they are golfers. Foursomes should always look behind them. If you have an open hole in front of you and singles behind you, let them play through. Especially foursomes that are walking. Buy s book on golf educate. Other then the clueless that play out here, great course.

Great Course, I just stink at golf!
Really enjoyed playing here today. Despite the high winds, it was a fun challenge to play a links style course. My score was in triple digits, but I'll blame that on the long layoff I have had in between rounds. All in all good experience.
Nice layout, tough greens.
Challenging, makes you think , use just about every club in my bag.
Can’t beat the value
In my opinion Castle Bay has to be one of the best values in the area. Staff is super friendly. Tee boxes are all in good shape and clearly marked. Fairways were nice and the course layout made for a fun yet challenging round. Finally, the best part of Castle Bay has to be the greens. Rolled smooth and true all day just as they should.
Can’t wait to come back and play this course again!

Golf
Two of us played 18 holes in 3 hrs. and 10 minutes.
Greens.
After playing on these new greens, it looks like they would stop using equipment that leaks oil or hydraulic fluid. This will damage the greens in the short and long term. Waste of funds . Course in good shape not worth the money.
Challenging layout
Played this Dec. 5, 2019 it was in great condition with large greens and many challenging hazards, a must play for golfers in the Wilmington, Nc area.
Great course
First time here, really enjoyed the course. Good thing there were a lot of good reviews for the course as the pictures on the website make it look horrible - it was like they were trying to keep people away :)
